The Jalpa is cool, I've wanted one ever since Rocky IV. However, I would think the Jarama would be for true Lambo enthusiasts only. It's cool in a retro sort of way, but do you really want to own a Lambo that isn't worth much (relatively speaking) but could cost a ton to repair?

You talking about the Espada above? Or do you mean the Jarama separately? I have not had a chance to see a Jarama in person, they are definitely "interesting" so is the Espada. I do like how the Espada looks vintage aggressive.

In short, I'd love one, regardless of the costs. Wanted one since I was a kid.

You're right. That's an Espada not a Jarama. I had to do a web search as the cars are similar. Regardless, I'll stand by my sentiment. The prices on those Lambos have gone up, 10 years ago they were dirt cheap, but I would still think that they would be challenging to own. The same is true of the Maseratis of that age. I'd love to own a Khamsin or Bora. I could have bought a Khamsin for less than 10K back in 2000, but not any more.

I know what you mean, I remember when you could snag a Jalpa for almost nothing, same with an Espada or an Urraco... Not anymore. Perhaps at some point when the garage gets bigger and I'm willing to make room. Would love to have something like that.

Sometimes my friends inquire about my passion for Porsche and they ask me if I like Ferrari, and if I would buy one if I could afford one. I always answer the same - if I could afford a Ferrari, I could afford 2 Porsches. Each would be at least as capable as the Ferrari, and at worst as reliable as the Ferrari.

Performance is only one aspect of a car and by far not the most important one.

You can spend $4.53 Million for Barn-Find Bugatti, have another half of million to fully restore it, and every hot hatch wil beat it on track or anywhere.

So do you think the owner of that bugatti is limping home with tail between his legs?

Amen brother. The 944 and 308 are completely different animals. Their allure has zero to do with performance and more to do with heritage, lineage, etc. Just within the 308 range alone there is a drastic difference between the early euro carb cars, the mid injected cars and the later quatro valves. They are both great classics but I'll take the 308/328 any day just based off the classic Pininfarina lines alone.

Performance, curb appeal, dependability, parts, fuel miliage. The ZO6 beats a 308 in almost every single measurement, and for 10K cheaper for a nice example. The 308 would get the nod for rarity and classic appeal and thats about it. I have never driven either one so fun factor might be something to consider, but I would think the ZO6 is more fun to drive just based on its incredible all around performance. I look at great sports cars as best bang for the buck. That is why I drive a 968. If I had 30K to spend on something it would be a Z06, or possibly a well modded and perfect 928 S4.

Nice..... The 944 Turbo, although recognized by virtually every publication in print at the time as a supercar, doesn't make the list? How can that be?

Supercar status has less to do with performance than it does with peoples perception of the car...

Regardless of how any 944 fan feels, its just not the same kind of car...

Comparing the Z06 to a 30 year old sports car isn't really a fair comparison. Of course it's more bang for the buck. The question is, how much will that Z06 be worth in 30 years? They are great cars but at the end of the day it's still just a Chevy and has ZERO lineage compared to Ferrari and Porsche.

Now that is an unfair statement... Chevy has tons of history and "lineage" of its own... just not one you are interested in.

The Corvette has always been a thorn in the side of the european sports cars, and now it is probably the best performing car you could possibly buy for that price... its just not some exotic European monster.

This current Ebay auction might take the award for the worst sports car you can buy for $30K.
