Alright, I just got off the phone with Dara Greaney from Meridian Auto Parts. There was a post a couple days ago on the turbo board concerning sources for racks and Meridian's name was mentioned. Their website is http://www.meridianautoparts.com/. You can go there to get the skinny on what they offer. Keep in mind, I have no experience with them, other than what I saw on their site, but my rack has a bad leak, and I am ordering from them regardless.
Dara said they have about 8 racks in-stock for 85.5-newer 944NA and turbo--regular price for a short rack is 290.00 plus a 200.00 core deposit Long Rack is 350.00 plus the 200.00 core deposit. He said based on interest, the short rack can be discounted to 265.00 and the long rack to 300.00. Shipping costs are 49.00next day, 38.00second day, and 25.00ground. Shipping cost INCLUDES core return freight. Call him at 1-888-275-2525 and mention Rennlist and he will put you on his list. I am getting back with him on Thursday to see how many--everyone will be responsible for their own payment direct with Meridian, and it is first come-first serve on stocked racks. I am first in line
. Check out their site for all the technical info.

G96,
With the long rack you refresh your tie rods, which is a good idea. Tie rods wear also. While you are in there, it makes sense.
As you say, you have to get an alignment anyway.....just not two alignments, when you eventually change the tie rods.

Okay, looks like I know which one I'll be buying. I e-mailed Dara again today and I'll probably order tomorrow. Bill, wanna help me put it in?

David,
Measure the length? maybe, if lucky. And assuming that the car in its current condition actually HAS the correct alignment.
We all know what the initials A.S.U.ME stand for.
Measure the EXACT length.......that would be called an alignment rack.
G96,
Ok. Help is my middle name.

I just ordered my long rack(that sounds sort of perverted)--anyways here is the deal. Dara will offer the following prices through this coming Monday only--295/long rack....265/short rack. Core and shipping charges are the same. After Monday--racks go back to regular prices. Meridian's # is 1-888-275-2525. He said I am the fourth confirmed order--just mention Rennlist when you call.

I ordered from Meridian in September. The service was fine and the rack has installed and worked perfectly so far. The return process is excellent and they credited my card promptly.
Good experience overall.

I was about to order one of these racks, but my dad found a place that he has ordered Jaguar racks from. They only sell the short rack, but it is only $235. the company is called Atlantic Enterprises and the number is 800-654-7565. The shop is in south Carolina.
One more quick question. I just put on new tie rod ends. There should be no reason that I would need anything other than the short rack, right?
