Default Source for long turbo mount bolt

I want to replace this bolt to help the likelihood of getting it off again in the future. Where can I get one? My dealer here in Norway has it on infinite back order. Porsche Europe says NLA as does Pelican. The one LR sells looks like a hex head bolt, and does not have the golden look of the original, which I believe is the reason for the excellent rust resistance of the bolts on this car. Any tips at all?

Paragon has an exhaust hardware kit for like $40 that includes both turbo mounting bolts.

...yeah, same thing that Rennbay sells as well (probably the same kit...looks exactly the same) and what I bought for my car when I did my turbo swap a few weeks ago.

I replaced my hex head with this same bolt - I'm not worried about the rust...and even if it does a little...I don't have to deal with a head stripping trying to get it out.

I doused mine with PB Blaster several times over a couple days and both mine backed right out - and my turbo was leaking a little at the outlet area so it was funky down there.

The "golden look" is yellow zinc coating. If you can find the bolt, you can most likely order it form McMaster Carr or some similar hardware dealer and have it coated for corrosion resistance. I bought the $40 kit from Paragon (it is the Rennbay kit).

So the hex head does not interfere with the pedestal/engine support in any way?
Are there not any source for yellow zinc bolts? The manufacturers must get them from somewhere. I live in Norway, so organizing to have things shipped back and fort between suppliers and services in the US can be a major hassle. Having it re-coated over here would easily cost $150.

wtf? $150?? for one bolt? no way. Yellow zinc coating for all 944 plated parts will cost you $100~150.

Btw: factory does not use yellow (cadmium) coating anymore since it is toxic. Now they use grey/green coating.

Well, that's assuming it has to go in a bath of some sort. That's 1 hours salary for most workshops over here. My local Porsche Shop is actually slightly cheaper than the VW and Audi shop at only $145 per hour. I always remind myself of these numbers when it's time for me to do the alignment on my car (I really dislike the job, but it is easily worth it

I found this titanium bolt that will fit, and it's only $9. How will titanium react to the steel and the heat of the exhaust. Will it weld itself to the centre section of the turbo?

Ti melting point is 1650 °C. I doubt your turbine will heat that much :P

Agreed. What I worry about is cold welding through galvanic corrosion or whatever it is called. This bolt is such a PITA to unscrew so I want to do my best to avoid it sticking. Also, I think I have heard your not supposed to use Ti and aluminium together for some reason.

I will use black zn/fe pasivation for my engine bolts and nuts. It's compattible with aluminum and withstands relatively high temperatures.
