Default Recommendations for "Turbo S" Style Brake Pads?

My next project is cleaning up and painting my Turbo S brake calipers on my 951.

I bought the Duplicolor Red Caliper paint kit + VHT Clear Coat but want to go ahead and change the pads while I have the calipers off.

Anyone have any recommendations - looking for something cleaner than what I have on now (not sure - I haven't changed them since I bought the car 2 years ago). I get a ton of brake dust up front and some squealing - would like to minimize that. I don't race/autocross or anything - so regular driving conditions.

Thanks in advance!

I don't have my 951S calipers on yet.. but when I do, I plan on running Carbotech pads.

I have heard very good things about the bobcat material. Last a long time, no dust, no noise, and don't eat the rotors.

This is the only site I've looked at so far. I looked up an 89' turbo 944... the S was the only model made in 89, so this should be them.

Also, try looking up an 87+ 928 S4. They use the same calipers.

Interesting...

This chart (if you pick a 1989 944 Turbo, which is the Turbo S correct?) shows a different pad up front.

In fact, I don't even see the CT447's that the AMP'd site recommends on the CTBRAKES site? There's also several recommendations for various years of the 928 S4 - not sure which one to go for there either...

BTW, for posterity sakes...I'm planning on using this as my guide - happens to be my same brakes to boot.

I've had good experience with ceramic pads in terms of dust and noise... not on the 944 but brake pads are brake pads. I'll probably go with Hawk ceramic pads for the 944 once my pads need replacing... can't seem to find any other company that makes ceramic for our cars.

Their HPS line is also pretty popular... among the f-body guys at least.

Speaking of which, know how it took us 15 hours to do the turbo? Took my 8 to pull the engine + tranny from my camaro. haha.

Factory brand for the baby black M030 caliper pads was Textar.

The 86' - 91' 928 is the S4. Later years are GT and GTS. They are also the same pads as the 89-91 944 turbo (would be S). I think their years are incorrect. The S was 88-90 I believe (Could be wrong).

And yeah, the link I gave you to buy them (AMP'd) is the only store I checked out. I wouldn't trust them before the Carbotech site. They might not know the difference between the regular turbo and the S. That's why I suggested searching for the 928 as well.

I bought stoptech pads from rockauto.com and I'm pretty happy with them for street use. A lot of guys over on the BMW forums like the low noise/dust/decent stopping combo.

Go with OEM Textar pads. The bite and torque they give is superior to all the aftermarket "Street" pads. They're silent and the dust easily washes off your wheels.
