Tail Lights
Does anyone know of a place that makes all red tail lights or solid color ones. I think it would make a huge difference to the car by replacing that multicolored late 70's ones that they carried over from the 924.

They aren't made in all red. You can either pick up a can of transparent red paint and color them yourself or buy them from someone. If you are in the US the color is Testors #1605.
If in Europe then DupliColor. Someone like Olli should have the paint code number.

Do you have to prep them in any way for that testors paint? And does anybody with a center "944" light ever try and paint that? Wondering because if the plastic is different at all it might come out a different red. Also, do the lights look less bright in the ones that were factory red compared to the ones that were factory white or yellow?
So pumped i found this thread...

Lead Foot, got any good photos of your clearn lenses? I'd like to see that!
I don't like the idea of painting my tail lights. I can't imagine it would
come out evenly enough. I'd rather buy those toysforyourtoys ones
even though they are terribly expensive. (not saying overpriced-expensive)

Is there not a way to divide them? I hate the way it looks with one panel like that. BTW - the model paint deal, I just did it and I will probably end up swapping the lights. I really dont like the way it came out.

I have water condensation in my reverse taillight on one side. Is this an easy fix? Like remove the assmebly, take the water out, reseal, put assembly back in? If so I may do that next spring, if not I'll leave it. My family always seems to have problems with lights, whether it be spiders making their homes in the headlights or whatnot. :P

Matt, you probably sprayed on the transparent red paint too thick. It only takes a couple very light passes and is VERY easy to lay on the paint too heavy. If you used the Testors paint, acetone will strip it off without melting the plastic lens face and save you from buying replacement lenses. If you have had your rear end sheet metal repainted better be careful about getting the acetone on it if they used a lower quality paint because the acetone may soften it up.
Barron, there are two potential problems that could be filling your reverse lens with water. One is water dripping down from the hatch catch pin assembly. The water will drip on the perfect spot to run into the rear lens cover and into the lenses through the bulb holes. So check that out by laying some paper on the tail light housing, running a hose over the hatch and seals and see if it leaks. I doubt this is the problem though, because usually more than one lens fills up with water.
That leaves the outer lens face. The tail lights have individual cells that are sonic welded together. The sonic weld may have failed on your reverse light. Or the plastic lens face may be cracked. Not much to be done if you have a cracked lens face and make the result look OK. But if the sonic weld has let loose you can try and seal up the perimeter of the reverse lens with some clear silicone. Just squish the silicone into the gap and wipe off the excess. Should work.
