Post slow acceleration

On the way to school today I experienced some probems with slow acceleration. the car wont even go above 2500 RPM. when I step on the gas in second it just barely accelerates could this be my CV Joints? one of them was loose yesterday and I had to re-tighten it I may have not done it enough. Come to think of it when I tried to tighten the bolts in the joints the wheel kept spinning even when I had it locked in reverse.

Does the car stumble when it tries to rev (above 2500RPM)?

Your transmission will not lock up your back wheels because of the differential. Not sure on a limited slip. You need to apply the parking brake. If it were a drive train problem the engine would labor really badly to not get over 2500 Rpm's.. make sure The fuel filter did not get a crimp in a line back there while working on it. Maybe the fuel filter just went bad?

Shifter linkage off? maybe your starting in third?

Did that the other day myself.

Cringe everytime I do it.

edit: Everytime I lug the engine. I only ever started out in 3rd once.

Did it in a 68 charger 383 once (started in 3rd). On a hill with the parking brake on. Damn motor shrugged it off like it was nothing.
