Default Big brakes on an 86 951?

I have an 86 951 and Id like to upgrade the brakes, because the car will be mostly a track car when I am finished with the build. So my question is, do I have to upgrade the knuckles in order to buy a kit? It looks like Paragon has kits but the exclude the 86 model year. Also, I plan on going with the Broadfoot Racing wide body kit, so Im also wondering if I need to go with a later offset a arm? Or are they all the same. I guess I would also need the same information for the rear... Any information would be greatly appreciated!

LindseyRacing.com sells kits for the early cars also, but the rotors are custom while the late offset cars can run a more standard rotor IIRC. I swapped my car over to all late offset- you need late a-arms, inner tie rod ends, spindles, hubs, rotors- rear is really just a difference in the hub and stub axel- the a-arms are the same but you'd need new bearings if you press them apart. I swapped in new arms w/ the late stub/hubs already in there. Rear rotors are different as well. NOT necessary for wide body depending on your wheel choice though. You CAN use the late offset hub/spindle on the early offset a-arm but you loose some camber so you would need a custom upper accentric bolt to get much neg. camber.

Not sure if this is what your looking for, but this looks like a pretty decent up grade for brakes on our cars,

There is a kit available which allows to use either Big Reds,951 S or newer Monoblock calipers with new style rotors and still have old ET spindles and control arms.

Default brakes & suspension

Are the late model suspension parts on any 87 or later 944? Or just the turbos?

All you need to do is buy 2nd hand front stub axles ( spindles USA speak)and the alloy hubs from a 944S2 ,( 1989 - 1991 ) or 968 for that matter, and then you can buy the billet hub adaptors that will accept the M030 944 Turbo S large Brembo Front brake calipers ( like the ones from the 928S4) or you spec up a bit further and go for the bigger discs from the 965 3.6 turbo ( X drilled) or the 928GTS not X drilled , thats what we did with our 1986 951 , all this stuff just bolts straight on .

If you are running 17's you can go BIGGER than the brembo's with the Lexus monoblocks and BoxsterS rotors. 4x42 pistons and 318mm dia. rotors. I am going to post up the adapter dims soon to stick the 928GTS rotors on with the Lexus monoblocks.
