Default 944 radiator solutions?

anything that can be fitted and cheaper then a new radiator?

always thought that maybe a 240sx or rx-7 ones can be fitted?

I think the reason why my car has been loosing some coolant over a few days is because of either one of the radiator hoses not being on all the way, or my radiator has a crack somewhere

now today on the way to work, smoke came out from under the hood when I parked the car - looked around - and saw smoke come from the front of the radiator - could be due to fans though

so yeah ... what did you use?

Aside from some porsche specific options my V8 conversion manual reccommends a 82-6 camaro radiator and this one link. Apparently there is also a fan from a Taurus that works well to increase the airflow.

see, I don't know how I'd feel about a "used" radiator, to me, it's almost like buying a "used" water pump or timing belt

and I think that early and late radiators are different anyways

A little off topic, but is there a way to modify a automatic radiator to fit in a 5 speed ?? How do you plug that auto trans hole if possible ?? There are some nice auto trans for cheap lol.

not sure how you would "plug" that, it would have to be a hell of a plug? I haven't seen an automatic radiator yet, but if that hole/bung for the hose is really big, I'd rather do it the right way

$300 for a brand new radiator is not bad, I was just wondering if there is anything out there more "perfomance" oriented or whatever, like those aluminum radiators that people with "other" similar sports cars have for their cars

I really can't see why anyone would pay $800 for the SFR radiator if for the same price you can get 2 brand new ones (yes, even all you S2/951 people)

I would not compare putting in a used radiator to a used water pump at all. A like new condition OEM used radiator is likely better than the aftermarket. And you can use the extra money to take the family out. Everybody wins, your car stays cool and your family has a great time.

I hear what Roman944 is saying. I have a small leak in mine, and I'm also looking around for any performance radiator alternatives.

Honestly, I'd lowball any used radiator offered to me. New ones are not that expensive, so why spend money, when you could be right back in the same leaky place a couple of years from now?

To plug the an auto radiator just put anything that will fit in there or even just tape it or do nothing. Coolant does not flow from the holes in a radiator from an automatic transmission car. You can use a radiator from an auto in a car with a standard transmission with no problems.

Are there more problems with the 944 radiators vs other cars of that era? If not I sure would put in a good used one. It is really pretty easy to change. Unless of course there was a problem with the original and updates have been made. If that is the case I am not aware of it.

Lowball is kind of a harsh word when someone is trying to help. I was just trying to be a nice guy and say just a fair price, if a fair price is 8 bucks thats fine with me.

interesting... how much pressure is the cooling system under? im thinking tape or like a "butt plug" will just blow right off... i was thinking maybe get a use a hose with an end on it and a clamp to seal it off? or maybe even use some sort of glue on it around the plug idk lol im just shooting ideas out there

Pretty weird stuff "kenkawai993", I think you need to understand the basics of water and oil. I will give you a clue, THEY DON'T MIX.
