Not that many NA's had LSD. They are prized today for the track guys. Now most guys who want one can find one, but they are not cheap. Prices range from 500 to 1500 for NA box with an LSD depending on the actual gearbox model and 5th gear installed in it.

I picked up my AOR for $1000 and i've seen them consistently for ~$1200. Nobody in their right mind would pay anywhere near that for an n/a box.

Yeah right... I wouldn't pay more than $300-500 for a weak n/a box with LSD. In fact, i think you'd be better off just selling the LSD out of it.

The n/a LSD transaxles pop up on pelican parts all the time for $700. They are rare, and they are desirable, but even rare parts are easy to find for a reasonable price for these cars. I see S2 transaxles for $1500, why would someone pay $1200 for an n/a?

I have an extra transmission I got for when I do track days in case I murder a transmission. What will I need to do to get one installed? Never actually worked on a transmission yet. So i'm rather looking forward to the adventure. But definitely want one for the track.

I think the racers are even more picky about how much they'll pay. There's a big difference between a factory LSD and a Guard/Quaife/etc. Plus the factory LSD is expensive to rebuild--about $800.

In the end they range in price and value. I found an LSD earlier this year, but it took 6 months of intense searching. Most were around $1000 shipped to me with long 5th gears when I did find them. Occasionally you can get lucky and find them for less. How long do you want to wait?
I have no use for an S2 box and now that I have an LSD I would not buy another for $700? I don't need to spend $700 on a spare.
Here is going rates for NA boxes for 944 racers.
Long 5th Open = $250
Short 5th Open = $500
Long 5th LSD = 500 to $1000 (Depending in shipping requirements)
Short 5th LSD = $1000 to 1500 (might get lucky and get one for $500).
If you are looking for street car just get an open box and not worry about the LSD. Not worth it on the street.
