Post Taking her to willow!

Well folks,

The 84 NA is making the big trek to Willow Springs next weekend. We'll see how the new 3.1 does on the longer tracks. We will run the stock 84 brakes, with dust sheilds removed and some very direct ducting from the front of the car to the brakes. We have a full coilover suspension, non LSD tranny, and will be running Hoosier 245/50/15's in the rear and 225/50/15's up front. I know, you will say we need brakes and wheels...I know we do. But this time out is to really push the motor, I want to torture the hell out of it. So far its held just fine. Compression is still 280PSI accross the cylinders and the leakdown is near 1 percent, on three with 2.5 percent on the fourth. Well run it at 13.25:1 compression on race gas. The oil cooler is also stock for the year and model. The goal...obviously...make it work :-)

The car will be corner balanced and aligned for willow, and weighs in at a hefty 2400lbs.

I hope to see a few of you up there! If you attend, or just show up to watch, give me a yell. I'd like to meet some of you guys!

Well, wish us luck!

Take Care!

Danno, damnit....I'm holding you to that...so let it be known here and now...that footage...IN CAR footage will be provided by GURU RACING....so now...if it does not happen...We can yell at Danno. He he....God I'd love to give the list some in car film....

Maybe we can get a little footage of a fender to fender with the Huntley Racing Red car owned by Neal "33" Wright!!! Neal is a good friend, and he runs the Huntley Racing Super Charger on his car. I don't know if Derrek will have Neals engine repaired in time for the Willow Race, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed!!! I'm hoping Derrek will have his "BOXSTER" at the track also...I'd like to see if his times are any good....thats right...I'm calling both cars out LOL....LETS DO IT!

To Quote Derrek..."see you at the track"!

Take Care!

By the way, I should mention that I do not drive our company car, I simply build it from the ground up. I have never driven in competion in my life...not legal anyway.

When we decided to enter the "real" racing scene, my partner and I decided we needed a driver that could drive PCA,SCCA, POC, and PRO, we sent a word out to the main list and and we were very lucky ( despite a competitors post that simply read "LOL" at our attempts at securing a great driver) to get a response from Tim Comeau. Look his name up on the search engine for your computer and you'll see he is a cart racer, and a very developed PCA driver and instructor, his dad is very involved in the local PCA....and we also have a very great driver Mitch Stahl, who has a track record at Willow and is also a POC driving instructor. So, all in all we have a pretty balanced team. Great Drivers, dedicated crew, and so far a great car (although unproven on the ral tracks, beyond a few cone crunching expeditions).

So, to be honest...I'm a freaking mess...the BIG DEBUTE, someone give me another coffee!!!!

"See you at the track"

Thumbs up

Sounds like a very exciting weekend coming up, I heard that little 3.1 idling and it sure sounds mean. It's like an old 'Cuda motor! Can't imagine what that car sounds like at 6k RPM but I'll put my money on it sounding wicked and fast. Lemme know how ya do, man! Good luck, have fun.

Sorry to say the Huntley Team will all be missing the POC event. We are running ours cars as a team and can't all make it to the event this weekend. We are running on Nov 2-3 at Willow. We have 4 cars going to that event including: HR Boxster, HR 944 SC, HR 914/6 HSR, HR 911. Besides John you don't want us having our fun with you on your first trip out to the track do you! We have three cars in your race group now!

GEEZ JOHN...looks like Huntley's layin down the gauntlet for you...

I personaly dont think they have anything to show us out there. We "should" be able to get that sled down into the low 1:30 second range, what has Huntley got going quicker than that?

We'll be there to represent...no worries!

Mitch,

Huntley won't make it :-( BUT, they will be at the "NEXT" one...ok, we'll be there too :-) This is getting good. Lets see, to bad the huntley team has three PROVEN cars in my group, and to be up against them on only our second time out...I guess I have my work cut out! But I'm up for it....I think a couple Huntley cars are going to get an *** chewing if they come barking at my front porche.

Mitch, I hope your there this weekend...Tim and Myself would like you to throw the car around the track and trade thoughts. Up for it? Call me at the shop.

Danno? YOu still there with the camera?

A side note...we will not have the time to get the car corner balanced or aligned for the track this time out. It will be up to the crew to make the needed adjustments as best we can track side.

This sucks.

NO ALIGNMENT?!!!

Are you sure about this John? Track-side alignments "might" fly for the front...but WONT fly on the rear.
Setting camber/castor on the rear is very tough to do even on an alignment rack. Camber and castor are somewhat tied together...one effects the other...getting this anywhere close to right while lying on our backs in the pits is gonna be impossible... in my opinion.

SOLUTION: get the closest local guy to set the front camber at 2 1/2 to 3 degrees negative, set toe to ZERO.

Rear camber set to 2 1/2 negative...toe ZERO and we run it.

At the very least..lets have somebody set the rear up for us BEFORE we get out there.
