968 LS2/3 Project
I am building a new car after having an accident in my gray 968 ls1. Old gray is easily fixable but I decide to turn it into a dedicated track car and build a nice new street ride. I was able to locate a clean 93 midnight blue 968 automatic with a blown up flywheel for a great deal. The body and paint were excellent so I pulled everything out sold the drive train and started my project. Most of the fabrication is done an the engine compartment is almost ready for paint. The engine is a 404 LS2 with P&P LS3 heads, ABS electric master cylinder for power brakes and 951 turbo S gearbox with a N/A 5th gear. Suspension will consist of fresh bushings throughout, Moton Club Sports, MO30 sway bars and aftermarket control arms, brakes are 14' Stoptech front and factory 968 rear. There are many newly designed parts and ideas on this car that I have learned over the years and are being incorporated into this build. This will be the 7th conversion I have done and I am looking forward to the finished product.

Tim stop by any time and I am sure I owe you at least a 6 pack!
Thanks for the kind words guys it has been 8 years since I built a car for myself and this one is going to be a big step up from the gray car. Some of the fab work was done by a friend who is just damn amazing at what he can do and that has really made a difference with this build. I will post some more pictures as things move along.

Had a accident at Barber due to a cracked wheel, lost air and bumped tire wall after stepping on brakes. Car was not that bad and it just made better sense to find another car. I will eventually have the gray car gutted, caged and wide bodied for the track.

I am sharing my ideas with Eric at Texas Performance Concepts so he can be your go to guy on parts and turn key conversions he in the process putting all the pieces needed to do quality conversions. There are a few parts that are a bit costly and I not sure folks will be willing to pay the cost but anything can be replicated. Two of the pieces are a throttle body adapter that redirects the throttle body downward and a custom PTM throttle body with a remote IAC motor these parts allow proper hood clearance on the 968. If my engine was DBW these would probably not be needed so if you are building from scratch a BDW engine is beneficial to these conversions when it comes to hood clearance issues. The radiator support has also been laid down to allow plenty of room in front of the engine for the 4" intake tube. I
Any of you guys interested in hooking up next year for the Hot Rod Power Tour? It starts in Coco Beach, Fla and comes through Montgomery Alabama on its way to Nashville. I have two guys from B'ham with nice 944 LS1 conversions and one with a nice RX7 LS2 that are planning on going.

I already have an order in with Eric for a few parts. Once I get those my motor will be going in. You used a dual master setup for a while with big brakes. How do you think .70in dual masters would work with a balance bar on stock turbo brakes?

I had my radiator laid down, but we could never get enough air flow in that position. Eventually a smaller dual pass radiator that was vertically oriented ended up being a better solution in my turbo car. You likely will not have the same issues in that big NA motor.

Pedal pressure will be firm with stock 944t rotors, when I went from 993TT rotors 12.8" to Stoptech 14" pedal effort was a good bit less. I used a .750 and .785 masters.
