Awesome job.

Why not a subtle hood blister ala M3 to help with clearance? I always thought it looked nice and would be easy to do.

Default Welding

Josh,
I wish I could take credit for the welding job but I had a friend Walker Morgan weld the intake pipe and upper radiator hose up for me; he is an excellent welder/fabricator.

Default Getting closer!

I got a lot of work done over the Holidays. The car is now running but needs some ecu tuning to correct for LS3 top end upgrade, larger injectors and new style MAF sensor. Fresh transmission and axles are installed I used some Stage 8 bolts for the axles they were a bit time consuming to install but should eliminate axles getting loose. I still need to finish the AC lines, install the heater hoses and finish fabricating a panel to cover and seal the radiator. I hope to get the bumper cover, rocker panels, and TRS rear wing back from paint by the end of the month so it will look like a 968 again.
Happy New Year!!

Lookin good. I like the idea of protecting the edges of the body work with painters tape. I tilted the TB by cutting the intake and while that worked fine it does cause contact between it and the water pump, so a bit of grinding/filing is in order. On the brakes, I have clearance issues with the coils and valve covers and wonder if and by how much you shifted the brake master? On the PCM tuning there's a guy down your way, Virginia, who really knows his stuff. http://www.tunedbyfrost.com/ Very helpful too.

Forget the CV bolts, you'll need new CV's with that train in there. Nice work. What clutch did you go with?

I have had fender covers on the car during the build but removed them for the pics tape has saved me from many paint chips over the years of building cars. The master cylinder is moved 1/2 " to the drivers side from factory location LS2 coils offer a lot more room than LS1 but they won't work with an LS1 intake/fuel rail. I have a good friend locally who is a very experienced tuner and has tuned all my conversions unfortunately he has had the flu and could not make it over during the holidays but thanks for the referral. I am also waiting on my custom throttle body from PTM that will have a remote IAC motor which will eliminate the large rectangle on the top of the TB and clear the hood. MY tuner is good friends with the guy who owns PTM and he hooked me up on getting the TB made at a reasonable cost. Thanks for the kudos and I will update again in a couple of weeks.

CVs are new factory 951S Lubro units that have proved reliable for me over the years. My CV issue in the past has been the bolts working loose from the V8 torque. it would only occur during track events but I wanted to eliminate the issue all together. I have a SPEC Stage 2 clutch with aluminum flywheel and aluminum pressure plate I had this set up in my old car for 7 years with no issues so I just had it reworked-nice to have the owner of SPEC as a friend and neighbor.

951 or 968 trans? JK about the CV's, the turbo ones are supposedly stronger *****/cages than the NA's. Last question, your water pump looks unfamiliar with the exit on the opposite side of the intake. What's the 411 on that?

Tom, is that a modified Dynateck strut brace? Any more info on the brake master? Looks good.

Turbo S trans with reinforcement plate, NA 5th and my old short shift from RPM in Knoxville. I had a 968 6 speed with a .60 6th and a GT LSD but the ratios were just too tight to make good use of the torque and I too busy shifting. The 5 speed is also 26lbs lighter and has the cooler.
Turbo CVs are much stronger they are heat treated and ***** are larger. The Lubro units I have are some I bought new over 10 years ago and I am not sure if the ones today are of the same quality, The water pump is a LS3 unit and I used it to get the water outlet on the drivers side and eliminate interference with the intake tube it also makes the upper radiator hose much easier to fit; another benefit is that is must be 7-8lbs lighter. The pump is spaced out 3/4" so it will line up with f-body accessories. I bought it from a company that puts LS3's crate engines into motorcycles for $120.00 and they use electric pumps-it was a deal.

Gene-it is a Dynatech I just welded tabs on to the strut tower so I could eliminate the brackets that usually bolt to the top of the strut tower. Brake master is and ABS power brake electric unit. I have installed 2 on car I built for other people and I really liked it so I bit the bullet and ponied up for one.

Looks awesome. I'll need to get the details from you some time on the brake system.

Got a part# for the Waterpump? That would have made things a little easier on my swap. Also was curious why you didn't go hydroboost since you have a PS pump.
