Any of you guys interested in hooking up next year for the Hot Rod Power Tour? It starts in Coco Beach, Fla and comes through Montgomery Alabama on its way to Nashville. I have two guys from B'ham with nice 944 LS1 conversions and one with a nice RX7 LS2 that are planning on going.
Man I wish I could go on this but I've been moving too slow on mine to come close to making it.
Look forward to watching your build and learning from your experience. Ever think of going LS7?

LS7 would be nice but expensive and probably more than the trans can handle. My engine will make close to 500RWHP with a pretty mild camshaft and that is probably pushing the limit on the trans reliability.

I also plan on just running the stock crate with the factory hot cam and controller but the thought of the LS7 with the dry sump is tempting.

The car is coming along well currently I am working on final wiring and plumbing and should have it running next weekend. I have also been working on the 993 headlight swap with one of the spare fenders from my other car and it is shaping up nicely. Here a a couple of pics of brake master and lines and fuel filter regulator but nothing exciting.
Dry sump is really not necessary on a street car in fact I tracked my old car for 7 years with a wet sump road race pan and never had any oiling issues. I did one dry sump on a full out track car and it worked excellent that was 6 years ago and that car is still running the same engine without a rebuild.
Photos are from a few weeks ago.

You've got to put up some pics of this! A buddy of mine has a 968 that was in a mild front end collision that resulted in the fenders around the headlights getting munched, but other than that the car is in great shape... I've been bugging him to do a 993 headlight swap on it, but he says he "can't picture it". I think it would be rad.

I wonder if anyone can update me. I went to the 944 V8 website and it was down. Is this temporary? On an other note I found a way to gain clearance for the hood on the 968. I cut the intake and took out a sliver at an angle. It was easy to cut. i experimented and found the best way was an old fashioned carpenters cross cut hand saw.

I am very close to firing up the engine and should have final bits I need to completely finish the engine conversion portion by the end of the year. I am determined to finish the car completely before I start driving it. I also needed an adapter to gain hood clearance and with a 92mm throttle body it is a tight fit. Attached is a pic of a 968/993 headlight conversion I am going to replicate; the car shown belongs to Mike Gokey I think it looks great. I will have a lot of time off over the holidays and should have the car rolling by the week after Christmas. The next step will be headlight conversion and finishing touches on the body. I am really enjoying this project and it will definitely be my best conversion so far but I will be glad when it is done and I am just driving it!

Wow! A 92 mm TB. Where did you put the MAF? Nice spacer btw.
