Well I'm pretty sure my TPS (Throttle Position Switch) is causing my drivability issues, so I'm replacing it on my '87 NA. Sooooo, the question is just how much do I have to disassemble to get to it? Will I have to take the throttle body off or can I get to it from underneath after removing the air box and air flow sensor?

M - "you think the pet rock was a good idea????"
T - "Sure it was the guy made a million dollars, you know I had an idea like that once"
P - "Really tom what was it?" (said like he would rather listen to a disertation on the mating of worms)
T - "It was a jump to conclusions mat, it would have different conclusinos on it that you could jump to" (said with great enthusiasm)
M - "That is the worst idea I have ever heard" (said like his best friend just died)
S - "Yes this idea, its horrible"
what a great movie....
And to keep something in the post on topic, good luck with the TPS, I hope thats what your problem is....

Well I pulled things apart, gave 'em a good cleaning and replaced my TPS...and VOILA! I'd say 99 percent of my drivability problems are gone! Now whether the cleaning and the replacement of the hose clamps that broke also helped is anyones guess. Those engineers must have had some plumbers amonst them...lot's of places to develop vac leaks.

Rough hunting idle and an intermitant 'surge' or dead spot during acceleration...like it suddenly didn't know I was giving it more gas.
Of course cleaning everything I took apart probably helped...and I did clean and spray dielectric spray on all the connectors as well.
I had heard several times that the TPS rarely lasts more than 100K, and since mine is up to 97K and was running crappy after a complete tune up and new coil...it was time. Cold running seems to have improved as well...it was 30 degrees this morning!!

Hmmmmm Since you obviously didn't get that memo why don't I send it to you again.

No Sh*t it was 30 degrees this morning. And since I already spent $179 on cables (which worked great for the ride home, but not after) I might as well try this TPS thingy.
Any chance we could re-create the Printer scene in the field with a 944 sunroof assy.
Samir: You know, there's nothing wrong with that name.
Michael Bolton: There WAS nothing wrong with it. Until I was about 12 years old, and that no-talent-***-clown BECAME famous and started winning Grammy's.
