Thanks Steve...I have just developed an annoying fluctuation where the idle will flop around from 600 to 1000 rpms and almost stalling at times...I think my TPS needs replacing as well.

Hey Mike B, your problem might be with the Idle Stabilization Valve that meters in extra air downstream of the airflow meter. They get crud in them and don't function smoothly, and can lead to the fluctuating idle (AMHIK--Ask me how I know!!).

Definitely try cleaning the TPS first...it's cheaper to clean/replace and a lot more accessible. On my S2 (and I believe this goes for other 944s too), accessing the ISV requires removing the intake manifold. I think I paid about $150 for a new ISV.

Good luck!!

Hey Mike,

Yea, I hope it is your TPS...a lot cheaper! If you're still on the original it's probably time to replace it anyway! I've seen the idle control valve for about $90 on eurowebparts...and I probably will plan on doing it some time...but on the NA it is REALLY buried! Looks like the whole intake will have to come off.

Let us know if the TPS fixes your idle!

Cheers,

Steve
