replacing WP, what else do i need?
alright, this is it, my last effort to make my car not overheat. i have replaced everything else, the only thing left is my water pump.
what extra parts will i need besides a new pump and the gasket? anything? from the picture in PET it looks like the pump may be all i need. my belts and rollers have less than 5k on them so they don't need attention.
have you guys had good luck with rebuilt pumps from gpr in california? danno, i saw a post that said you had used one... is it still doing ok? if i got a rebuilt pump from a dealer, would it be likely to be of higher quality?

Paragon has new water pumps for around $180.00. I didn't want to take a chance on a rebuilt one with all the work involved in changing it out. Get a new thermostat, o ring, and snap ring so you don't have to fight removing the old one.
Oh yeah, for some reason the new water pumps do not come with a gasket so add $4 for one of those.
Don't forget to bleed the cooling system about 2000 times.

When I did all this jazz, I also cleaned out the cooling system. I used Prestone Super Flush per the instructions, then flushed the system with distilled H2O, then filled it with factory Boxster/996 coolant and distilled H2O.
I also used a new water pump. The castings tend to get pitted over time, so most rebuilt ones have pitted castings. New ones don't.
