Default Im convinced she doesnt like being fixed...

Or are all 944's as temperamental?

I repaired the armrest/cassette door, new shifter boot, new hood and hatch struts, trunk lock seal, fixed glovebox hinges and installed a new stereo today... closed the passenger door and the mirror glass pops out and explodes on the garage floor... couldnt do anything but laugh about it... LOL

Found a bunch of vacuum leaks, ordering a vacuum line kit...

Oh and I got new tires put on her, vibration gone (date code showed 11 years old... wow). I also got a good look at the suspension, rear is in great shape (including CV boots being new) has some yellow shocks (although they dont look like Koni yellow). Already ordered and received the front sway bar bushings and that is all I can see that is needed right now. Car drives awesome with the new tires, I am very pleased.

Buy the swaybar stiffening brackets for the front while your working up there. Well worth $40, also yellows tend to be koni's.

You will find that it is a never ending cycle repairing an old car. Just when you THINK you have her all fixed up something else pops up. A Porsche is just like a woman, they never get enough attention. Your lucky the car can not talk back to you, but then again in a way they do.

Cheers,
Larry

it costs $$$ and time to get a daily driver. then the upgrades, wheels, tires, brakes, suspension, more mechanical updates, and cosmetic int. mods, seat deletes, stereos, seats, steering wheels, and more. finally big hp projects, and you're driving a beautiful P-car.

LOL.. indeed, I should have expected it.... afterall, it is a P-car.

This car certainly isnt going to be a DD, but will be driven frequently, even if it's only a hundred miles a week. She's parked for now, until I replace the Vacuum lines... all the leaks were at the FPR and Dampner that I could find. Which explains my richness at idle and low idle on cold start up.

As much as they don't like being fixed, or they are addicted to repairs....they HATE being ingnored.

Ordered a replacement mirror and a vacuum line kit. Now I just have to figure out how to get the old backing plate for the mirror out to install the new one when it arrives...

i will attempt to tackle the vacuum lines, water pump and the timing belts when I get to go back to my normal work schedule (Off Mon-Thursday, work Fri,Sat and Sun)

This procedure worked well for me after a similar day to yours last year. You do eventually work your way to the other side of the curve.
