Default fixed my sloppy shifter

ok I have fixed the following, new shift ****, new shift boot, new shifter below the **** (with a billet adjustable) and tightened up the lower bolt in this picture (was not even finger tight), but it was still sloppy, so I took it by my mechanics today and they found the front bolt was broken and lose so we drilled and tapped it and re bolted it, wow what a great feeling to go to put it into 1st and not slapping the side, rubbing and smoother shifting, there is very little play while in gear now, feels like a new car

Did you just put in a new shift lever or did you do something about the collar/rod that goes over it?

I replaced just the shift lever and now 1 year later its just as bad as it was before. Im going to have to put a bushing in it or replace the rod to fix it for good.

just the lever, if this blows out that quickly I'll put a bushing in, this was a $.75 fix and half hour on the grinder/welder.

I inadvertently deleted my only photo of it before i installed it. I'm making a second one to give to drifta944 for letting me borrow the spare shifter used, will get pictures of it.

I noticed in the picture that a short shift kit is installed. Many of those kits have a keyed fitment at the rear of the main shaft... when this wears, it will cause the sloppy shifting.
See the pictures...

That is not my Trani, it is a pic I "borrowed" form an other tread, but might put in a short shifter down the road, thanks
