will a 951 cat back fit on my '88 924S?

Actually it might. Best way is to check the part number to see if they match. Porsche always tries to save money by using as much of the same parts among their cars that they can. The biggest diff between a 951 (944 Turbo) exhaust and yours, late 944 NA exhaust, is the extra turbo tube on the Cat section. This is where it siphons off the exhaust gases to drive the turbo (just prior the Cat). The only question is why you'd want to do it? If they are interchangeable you won't gain anything unless you get an aftermarket highflow muffler.

The 951 cat-back mating point for the cat section is square, the 944 NA is triangle shaped. (4 bolt vs 3 bolt). I've never seen a 924 exhaust, but I'd bet it's much like the 944, so a 951 cat back won't fit without modification.

i just asked the same thing (except for a 944S) on another thread.
Maybe cutting the flange from your orignal, and welding it to the catback? sounds like it would work to me, but how much would it cost?
also, im still wondering about the performance gains. im not sure what they are. Maybe an improvement in sound?

zakk- just for clarification you HAVE seen a 924S exhasut because it is exactly the same as the 944. the 924S has the same engine/drivetrain/suspension as the 944 without the body work of the 944, in fact it is lighter and more aerodynamic, which happily means it's quicker and has a very slight higher top speed
