Default upgrading 86 front spindles/hubs to 87

I have a set of 87 spindles and hubs I'm putting on my 86 with fabcar arms and VCI big red brake kit. Is this a bolt-on swap? The VCI site lists "Machine 87-up spindles to use with 86' control arms" Whats up with that? I have a second set of VCI hats that seem loose on the 87 hubs whereas the hats on the machined 86 hubs are stuck on there good. Sigh.

What else don't I know?

Update: Got the 86 spindle off and the 87 fits over the ball joint pin, and fits into the strut. So far so good. I smacked the studs to get the brake hat off. Now I gotta get the old hub off to get the Holbert cooling duct off...

Dan,

What was involved in converting to late offset and what was the motivation?
