Interior Modernization, especially door panels

Interior Modernization, especially door panels
Hey guys, im looking to modernize my interior, make it more like the past decade. would like to see what some have done.
some things I will do for sure:
All LED lighting, and backlight glow gauges faces.
painting trim and center console and gauge cluster housing with a graphite grey paint with clear coat (not a rattle can job!)
Im removing all the carpeting and replace it with a light weight black felt matting.
will have the upper half (roof and pillar trim) covered in cloth like most cars.
New leather shift boot with contrast stitching and aluminum ball shifter (hopefully I can get or make one lighted)
leather covered with better padding arm rest.
Also I am making my own center console "dish" to replace the ash tray and will put an led in to back light it.
Ive seen some ones avatar that had a screen of some sort put in, (im not to into audio/nav stuff, as long as it works) Id like to do that to, can anyone provide input as to that? Id like to have nav and TV if possible.(im not doing the stupid suction cup in the windo for tomtom or whatever)
Ive thought about taking things from newer cars if they might work.
One of my biggest complaints is The door panels. they just seem so cheap.
I was looking into other cars to take handles and buttons from to make a new nice door panel. so if anyone has any ideas or can make some sketches, that would be great.
a couple other touches im going to add are a few dim leds in the foot well, center over head, and underside of the door arm rest to add a little ambience (like in my bmw)

personally i feel like the door panels are the only part that looks old... i find the rest of the interior nice and decently modern... I think one limiting factor is space, as far is changing the dash, center console etc... door panels would be a breeze... maybe take some design from a new 928.. or just get door panels and such from a 968

Be prepared to pay up to $500 for 968 door cards just to have diagonal stitching. Not my cup of tea as that is almost the cost of a clutch just to have some bling. Go for it if you like it.

actually those do look very close to the shape of our door panels... at worst you could get a set and make a fiberglass set and trim to fit... only issue I mainly see is the door handle itself is rather high up but you could still move it down right above the armrest...
Nice idea man

I would recommend this thread for a comprehensive (and shockingly factory-looking) tutorial on plastic welding, bonding and finishing for interior trim pieces.

In the thread, the guy is building a dash bezel for a computer screen, but it's beautiful work and a nice summary of the techniques and products which he uses.
(The attached picture below is also from that thread).

I noticed the high lever on the GTI panel, but I thinkit coudl be made to work.
but here what im looking for. window swtiches in the door (and back lit!!!) something that matches up to the dash styling ( I looked at boxster door panels and didnt' like them)
So ofcourse they have to be from a coupe.
I already checked out M3 but they didnt have the window switches, and I looked at the audi TT but it looked weird. (though the S4s were nice but being for a sedan it would work all that well)
if anyone has any better options let me know
