looking for pics of rear seats deleted...
I am torn between doing a 968 shelf in place of the seats (can put stuff in them, i like that idea) or ripping out the seats altogether and just laying carpet over them. I am going to order a redline rollbar soon and have *no* use for the rear seats whatsoever. any pics or anyone that has done it want to chime in?
(this is a street car that is slowly going to become a weekend/track car..dont need any more seats than 2)
ps- my custom stainless harness bar w/ red 5pt harnesses will be up for sale shortly..I can take some pics of it installed if anyone wants to see it, or I will just wait till I pull it out and then offer it up for grabs..thanks for listening..

Sam - I've currently got the redline rollbar and have thought about putting in the shelf as well. What's stopped me (aside from not finding one) is that I think you'll need to cut up the shelf a bit to accomodate the bar. In any case, I'm interested to see what you come up with...

I took out my seat backs when i installed my redline bar yesterday, i will be taking out the bottom when i either get some kind of carpet to finish the area or i get the guts to pull the carpets out of my whole car then clean and paint my interior
I like the 968 shelf but i see 2 problems: fitting it with the redline bar and weight... that shelf looks heavy, more weight isnt cool.

How about some pics Dan? (Or others).
I'm thinking of ditching the rear seats. I have no use for them since I don't hang out with double amputees or small children.
Does cleaning and painting look okay? I've never seen the metal under the carpet, is it smooth enough to get away with that in a daily car/weekend racer?

This is a local rennlister's car, not sure what it took to make it look like that though. I'll take a shot of mine with no seat tops tomorrow, i need to take out my front seats again to install my harnesses and make a spot for the sub strap anyway so ill take a look at how it looks under the carpet

I'll try and get some pics later, but I deleted mine. I have Corbeau Forza's in the front that do not fold, so there's no way to get in the back seat. I removed the seat and will soon be building a speaker enclosure to recover hatch space lost to a pair of Rockford Fosgate 15's.

From the looks of that pic, I think I could carpet that and have it look ok. Im not worried about perfection, but with the redline rollbar installed I would like someone that happened to take a peek inside not mention anything...just want it kind of fit in when they are deleted. anyone have a good place to get carpet that looks like factory?

Dan...
Make up a shelf of epoxy/glass, door skin, builders foam, door skin, and epoxy/glass.
very strong and light weight. I built my trailer platform that way.

take off the back support portion of the back seat and leave the bottom piece. looks "ok", and i can still put my bag back there when i go to the gym or school. i removed the seat because as we all know, the lighter a car the quicker. doing it this way you wouldn't have to carpet anything.
