Post Membership Parts Blowout...

Greetings!

I am pleased to announce that on the opening page of Rennlist.com - there is now a link to a HUGE Parts blowout with Rennlist Sponsor "Road and Race" (Dave is one of the most seasoned Rennlist Sponsors out there!:-)

Anyway - with over 200 items such as Wheels, engine parts, original Carrera RS NOS vintage parts, transmissions, etc. - the savings are tremendous. For example - try Wheel sets that carry a list price of over $700 for $400... Or - how about brand new Phone Dial wheels for $50 - $75 each? Or - how about 996 Litronices for $400..?? And lots more...........

The only catch? For the next few days - only card-carrying Rennlist Members will have access to the parts page for prices/ordering - you folks get first opportunity to place your order and save a huge amount of $$$...

So, check it out at Rennlist.com - look for the link on the main page...

My Best to all..!

I'm glad you're having this parts blow out...

But they don't seem to want any business. I emailed the yesterday with a very simple question and haven't received any reply. Maybe pass that on to them...

Unhappy

$17.95 isn't bad, so I'll likely join. Still, $18 even would remind me less of a department store special...

Hey David. I've been around since the Porsche List days so I'm used to having a free forum to be involved in. So what's your point?
1. I'm cheap?
2. Porsche's are expensive and require lots of
maintenance and I SHOULD have money?
3. You are rich and can afford it?
4. I should feel obligated just because John D. makes money off this list, has affluent partners and you choose to make it more profitable for him to run the list?

Sorry, but when you divide the community into members and non members, and dangle the occasional carrot / segregate the classifieds you have to choose which side to sit on. And I see I'm in the majority.....
And my hard earned money does go into the car occasionally, and to guys like Racers Edge, Paragon, etc.... Why? Because their service is excellent and free. And I like their products. This is just a forum, they are the real thing. A great forum, and maybe if the fee was less, it might attract more members and make more money for John Dunkle, and the list.
imho......

Now - THAT'S FUNNY!!!

The Sponsors and Memberships pay for the costs of the two full time internet connections each month, the 12 servers, software (upgrades and new acquisitions), the hardware, the insurance, etc...

Notice that I DON'T make a salary from operating Rennlist, as it doesn't generate enough money for that - which is why I have a full time real job which pays the bills (including the months when the site revenue doesn't cover costs)...

Now - if you can do Rennlist *better* and *cheaper* - please DO IT..!! Go set up, design, buy the servers/software and then program, host and support your own enthusiast site each and every day - 365 days a year... Hell, I'll even shut this down when have yours up and running and it's as large as Rennlist.... Then maybe you can appreciate the costs associate with operating a site of this size. Till then - you blow smoke pretty well, huh?

OH - Rennlist has no "affluent partners", either - unless you count Jen - who also donates her time to maintain Memberships. But you wouldn't have a reason to know that either, now would you..???

I had no issues at all giving him $18..Hell I know guys that have multiple memberships...

What can $18 buy you in Porsche land?

A random rubber piece, all or part of a rubber hose
3-4 quarts of synthetic oil, or 9 quarts of dino.
A couple oil filters

$18 is really nothing when you consider what you get out of it..
Also for that $18 you get a members web page and few other goodies, discount @ a bunch of P-car parts places. He gives you 100 megs of storage on that members web page...how much would that cost otherwise?

Just my $10....

It's amazing how people put their own little spin on messages, and end up harshing a member for their own reasons. And this one is from the almighty John D. himself.
You might want to move this to the flames list, or do you not have that forum anymore?
Are you a registered non-profit organization?
What about the advertisers? Do they advertise for free? Obviously not, you just spend all the money on the list and it's workings? WOW!!!!!!!!!!!
What about Bill at Suncoast , your partner on Thalist (I read that here recently)
Is Thalist a free service?
I don't get it. After all these years, you continue to balance a perfect budget and not make a dime?
You opened the can of worms. I am entitled to my opinion regardless.
Not once did I say I have an interest in anything except Rennlist as a resource. Isn't that why you created it in the first place?
So if you spend ALL the income from the list, that's your right. And if you don't make a dime, that's your choice. I seem to remember you soliciting for money years ago to expand the list about the time Porsche was going after you for copyright infringement.
So don't bash me for expressing an opinion. I never questioned the quality of the members or the creator.
I just don't feel compelled to support the list when I already support the supporters (like I mentioned, top shelf companies like Paragon and Racers Edge whom I will continue to buy from)
The Porschelist has certainly evolved into an amazing website. Where it goes from here is up to you John D.
And David M. is entitled to his opinion also.
Just where was he going with it? Are Porsche owners all stereotypical?
And as far as Road and Race goes, a little look-see of what was being sold might have been a better idea than the "sorry you're not a member" approach to being a potential customer.
Oh well, I think I have expressed my opinion.
It's hard to be humble when you get flamed unnecessarily by the webmaster.
May the businesses I support continue to support Rennlist. Now that's money well spent!!!!!!

Hey, membership is definitely worth it. Here's my testimonial:

I signed up a few weeks back, the sticker & card came in the mail last week. I've been hearing a slight belt-type squeak for the past week or so, only noticable coming off idle with a wall to the left to reflect the sound.

I put the sticker on yesterday evening. Went out this AM to try to pin down where / what the squeak was; it's _gone_!

Obviously, putting the rennlist sticker on the car healed the squeak! Words cannot express my amazement! Thanks, John & Jen!

(Yep, this really happened; but I suspect that a major change in humidity had something to do with it, and I plan to investigate further in a day or two....)

As always, YMMV.....
