Post Cricket Belt Tension Tool ( anyone used it?)

Has anyone had any experience with the 9XAUTO.com
Cricket belt tension tool for the 944? Please let me know. I'd like to do this job myself but I need a tension gage and this looks like it might be a good option for a DIY wrench.

Thanks
James

Thumbs up

I bought mine from BLASZAK PRECISION MOTORSPORTS at http://www.geocities.com/blaszak_precision/
It worked great when I did my belts.

Good luck.

If you get the tool, be sure to check out Maurkus' web site referenced above. He has the tension settings as well as some very helpful photos. Using the Cricket tool requires a different procedure than using "The Tool".

I would not have been able to use my OptiBelt (same as the Cricket) tool properly without the information on his site. In fact, I really botched my first attempt as I used the 944 Manual as a guideline. Things did not "feel" right, so I read the directions and studied the pictures closely and I re-did the tensioning per Markus' directions and all seems better now.

I would like to say that there is a lot more belt whine than before and it is audible thru the entire RPM range, but I only hear it when the windows are down. However, it had been 20,000 miles since the belts were replaced and adjusted and according to the OptiBelt reading the Balance Belt was way to loose. I would like to compare the OptiBelt reading with “The Tool”, but I do not know if I will ever get that chance.
