spence,
damn its worst than i thought. you can get away with just a front clip and changing that stuff out. that front clip linked above is 2 hours away from me if you want me to check it out for you.
UNLESS your hell bent on that tubular frame, which i think you are crazy still lol. it could be worst, the car coulda been totalled......nyway my vote is for the tubular frame XD.

That sucks, someone hit mine but it wasnt as bad
the car behind mine is the guy who hit it driving away from the scene, after he hit and ran, its the same pick that convicted him of driving without a license, felony hit and run and driving without insurance

As a point of reference, in a prior life, my car had been in in a front-end collision that I think was very similar to yours: the right frame rail was crumpled and bent in front of the shock tower and the left rail was pulled slightly to the right. The PO had the car repaired prior to me purchasing it, but whoever did it did a crappy job. They pulled the right rail roughly back into position, but tore the metal in the process and didn't bother to repair it. The other rail they just ignored.
After discovering the problem (and vowing never to go back to the place that did my PPI) I took the car to a body shop and they welded the right rail and put the car on a jig and pulled everything back into alignment. Interestingly, they said in order to fix the rail they had to cut a hole in the opposite side (towards the wheel well) and weld in a diamond-shaped plate to the back-side of the tear. Once they were done they claimed that everything was within 1mm of the Porsche spec. Total cost was about $1100 back in 2007, but I did all the work to pull the motor and clear out the front end.
Morals of the story: don't blindly trust your PPI mechanic and nowadays its probably cheaper to get a new tub.

I would start looking for a new tub of front clip. I had a similar bend on the frame and took it a reputable frame guy (does numerous race cars) who was adamant of not pulling it. He said it would be safe and the car wouldn't be square.
I ended finding a tub locally and am currently retubbing on my spare time.
Dillon...hows the project coming along???

Yeah, too many people around for me to lose my cool and stop him. I am driving it still with a cobbled together fender, but it will never be straight. i will have to replace it with a good shell. I thought Matt Sheppard sold his shell, I should call him. its only 100 miles away in the bay area.

Spencer - I will take a picture of one of these on my car, except that mine is on the driver's side, and it has been fixed (for a LONG time now) - by one of the previous P/O's

My 86 was hit under the bumper, right on the bottom passenger side of the rad hoop, which twisted the right side frame rail down about a 1/2 inch or so. I had it straightened on a frame machine (944's take a special jig BTW) for $500. Add in a new PS cooler, windshield washer bottle, lower valance, and a ****load of my time, I still put about $1200 into the "good enough" repair (note I had no headlight, radiator, bumper strut, or A/C damage, while it appears you certainly do). I also got away with a $100 spray can job on the valance, nothing more. Mine was a $1200 car to begin with.
So, unless you've got piles of money in this car, or some great sentimental attachment, I'd look for a different (running) car.

bit of an update...
note that i had cut out the center sheetmetal box section, hence the ability to see through the car...lol
the driver's side rail did indeed move by about a quarter inch.
