Ground question
Doing some tinkering and decided to clean the grounds up front near the headlights. This doesn't seem right to me -- a post with a plastic nut. I really didn't pay too much attention when I was putting on my rennbay lighting harness either...
Can anyone confirm whether this is supposed to like this or not? Thanks.
This is on an '88NA.

Don't look right to me. I have never seen one with a plastic nut. There is also heat shrink wrap on the end connector, so someone at some point in time did that. I don't trust plastic nuts worth a damn. I'd just get a ss nut or copper nut and replace it. Better contact anyway. That and you can torque it down more with a ss/copper nut than a plastic since it'll crack if it goes down too far.

More info, this post looks like one of those that hold a wire wrap on post... this is ridiculous. I bet that someone undid it (not me!) and isn't using the actual ground spot -- although that spot looks like it should have a grounding area spot. As far as the shrink wrap, that's the ground for the rennbay light kit...
Thanks for the reply.

I don't what that thing is -- I'm tempted, time permitting, to get that out of there... if not intended to be there. I am seriously thinking that is meant to be there, but NOT as a ground. I am not exactly sure where the actual ground point is supposed to be... will wait for others to chime in.
Thanks for sharing the facepalm with me.

I'm attempting to visualize what part of the car you have pictures of. Do you have a zoomed out picture? If I recall, your ground for the lights are down below on part of the frame, if I recall... on one side below the headlight motor, and another on the other side by the AC part of the frame. I'm actually headed right out the door to go work on my 924 some more, if others don't chime in I'm happy to look into it further when I get back.

The hole is visible in the pics, albeit blurred... I'm curious about why it's not populated there -- then again, after 5.5 years of ownership, I'm still finding WTF's on this car. Thanks.
