thanks....
quick update;
i cruised over to Doug's place today, and (he) got a few things done;
1. changed oil and filter
2. we had the brake rotors turned.
3. raised idle ~150 rpm to eliminate the 'dead spot' when accelerating from stop lights @ low throttle and allow smoother gear changes.
4. hang with Doug's family, kids, etc and chow a huge chicken sandwich.
car is steady. first 14 k miles has been a joy.
flying home for Xmas..... to do list for when i return to LA;
1. fix the 'got no heat' problem.
2. install the bigger fuel pump (been slow doing this because it ain't like the current pump is broken....)
3. a few minor cosmetic fixes.
4. change out the caster blocks (@ 20k miles it's 'time.' keeping them fresh will likely reduce the beat down on the other stuff (+ the car rides better).

I think i finally know why i don't have heat.
My #29 fuse is blowing from a short....
no turbo defrost and no temperature control dial functionality.
regular heat/AC fan works fine - and radiator fluid IS circulating through the heater core.
before it's over how much will need to be taken apart to chase down the short?

I don't believe the car will run hot anymore.
Doug kicked motherbleeping *** today.....
AC condensor removed (it's nice, it's new and it's now for sale)
Huge 16" pusher fan installed.... airflow is massive.
hopefully no more hotty engine when stuck on the Golden State Freeway when the dog days of summer return.

thanks!
completed another speed run out of LA yesterday/last night in the Sledgehammer.
Left at 11:00 am...
Texas Panhandle in the late hours was a fine bone to be chewed at 115~120mph.
~1340 miles and lots of Tom Petty before i put her to bed in the pre-dawn hr/s.
time to quit while i'm ahead.

Don't let the Amarillo cops catch you. I lived there for about 25 years so I know first hand. They are hard core and will tag at 5mph above the limit. It is my hometown. So will the State troopers...hope that your radar detector is working well.

i got my feet wet on this wide curvy road up from Doug's house doing these wide, sweeping, 300' burnouts...
i wonder if the 960 could surpass the easy feeling of my 3,100lb castoff in full drift.

Can anyone identify the smaller ps/rack line on the left?
i need one after contact with the oilpan caused it to wear through.
but, no joy finding it anywhere on the interwebs.
all i found was this one crappy photo on Google with a dead link from ebay.

OD, i had the same issue on my swap with those banjo fittings. I suggest converting everything to AN lines.
There is no good way to route those hardlines around the pan.
See my posts on this page of my build thread;

i had found that part of your thread several days ago.
turns out there was wear at the groove on the edge of the oilpan.
but, the fault actually occured at the overstressed banjo fitting.
so, we're gonna get my new banjo lines real hot.
tell you what.......... hard driving my LS 26 k miles!!
if this is all that comes up............. SH_T MAN WHAT A BADDASS DEAL LIFE IN LS!!
driving a cheap, quiet, loud when you wannit bonafide supercar is absolutely INSANE.
