should I tell them Doug??? should I tell them???
besides the fact that I'm utterly besides myself after this weekend's TRIPLE fiasco....
after all this do you know what really has me pissed off today even after all these years??? (and totally unrelated).....
yep, the one that sticks in my craw.
is knowing I have to design and make up new rocker panels because the old oem garbage is so bad.
because when you look at them damn rocker panels, the burning feeling I get inside isn't just the utter embarrassment..... but downright anger.
Porsche really did us a solid with them rocker panels (by showing their true selves).

sometimes, the idea of building a good 968 turns out to be folly, if not abject madness.
Victim or the Crime
the Grateful Dead
Patience runs out on the junkie
The dark side hires another soul
Did he steal his fate or earn it?
Was he force fed, did he learn it?
Whatever happened to his precious self control?
Like him, I'm tired of try'n' to heal
This tomcat heart with which I'm blessed
Is destruction lovings twin?
Must I chose to lose or win?
Maybe when my turn comes I will have guessed
These are the horns of the dilemma
What truth this proof against all lies?
When sacred fails before profane
The wisest man is deemed insane
Even the purest of romantics compromise
What fixation feeds this fever?
As the full moon pales and climbs
Am I living truth or rank deceiver?
Am I the victim or the crime?
Am I the victim or the crime?
Am I the victim or the crime, or the crime?

well Jay,
i'll leave the details to your imagination...
but ponder this: I can sell this nice engine to CBM motorsports right down the street in Rancho Guacamole.....
then, Lart can be here in an hour. and believe me, I'm damn close to doing just that.
or maybe just store this pile of **** and give it a proper death under a tree in the sub-arctic mist in cloudland (Massachusetts).

you'll all have nightmares.
not to mention that I'll be lending more evidence of the elusive 944/968 supercar.
in the absence of a solid plan, bad things can - and will happen.
sometimes you can substitute more money for the lack of a good plan.
but, I'm discovering it takes a lot to make something like this happen. maybe more than I have.
I did good in some areas, but not good enough in others.
play the song. the song tells all.

ok,
the 944 gods have come to my rescue to get this clusterf_ck (and that's really not over-stated) under control.
the gods say we'll get this sorted.
added bonus; somehow I'm not broke yet.
ok, here's the to-do list (redacted for public consumption).
1. Alarm bypass (thanks to Sausagehacker, Doug at the Rancho Guacamole Cantina, 944 Track God AND DOC'S HOW-TO.
2. stand-alone/push-button start function.
3. clean/detail engine bay.
4. suspension w/ Weltmeister/Koni crap tuned.
5. minor engine surgery that 944 Track God's tech will solve
I can't really explain this one (as i'll be reduced to extra/more/special laughingstock status).
6. new hood. (got bent in the fall of 2012).
7. Rocker panels; old Porsche garbage trashed after 200 k miles fixed asap.
8. buff the **** out of the car.... leading up to very thin/dying/****-it's-dead paint and another respray.
9. I'm sure we'll find more **** to do.
Rennlist: $18/serious value for your hard earned dollar.
I also should drink more.

All of this time, I was under the impression that the LS1 swap was the definitive answer to all of the 944/968 problems??
Was I misled?
What went wrong, when so much was going right?

I'm calm now.
the engine is fine. but it has a mystery no-go at the starter motor that's making life miserable.
outside of that, the workmanship of the swap.... including everything is fully off the charts (great).
I forgot to instruct my installer to perform 2 epic 'things' that will now be fixed for about $2k give or take.....
then there's cleaning of the engine bay, some body work and, at some point, another respray.
all will be done - soon.
