Post Porsche 944 S2 Bent Valves?

Hi,

1. If anyone is reading this and has copies of the workshop manuals can you send me the sections on changing the camshafts and timing chains.

email me at: michael_s_cain@yahoo.co.uk

2. I am pretty sure I have not bent the valves as the engine was still running although there was a horrid rattling sound. I did have to put my foot to the floor and turn the engine over many many times before it fired up. I did check the distribitor cap and it was pretty much burnt out.

3. If the valves were bent would the engine still run?

Mike - London - England.

I only have one experience with bent valves and I will say that when they bend, the engine stops...period. When the belts go, the pistons and valves keep moving with the crank not moving, and they hit each other (I think??). If the crank is not moving - the engine will not go.

By the way - are you the actual actor Michael Cain? I noticed at the end of your post it said "Mike - London - England"....and we all know the actor Cain only talks in sentences that are broken down into groups of three stanzas.

If Mr. Cain was asking my question, it would be like..."Are.........you..........Michael Cain? Notice the three distinct groups of inflections, making up one statement. See how I could think you were the actor? You said, "Mike...... London......England - it's very similar.

Michael Caine spells his name with an E at the end of it.

Starting it with symptoms as you describe will only make things more expensive.

Unhappy

When I bought my S it had bent valves. It would run ok. Lacked power, really hard to start. Burned fuel when starting. I would suggest having the valves checked as soon as you can.
