Is the 2 liter engine on a 1980 924 an interference design like the 944? TIA Mal

The N/A is not an interference design while the 924 turbo is...

Think they (NA and Turbo) are both noninterference engines. The Turbo has a 7.5 to 1 compression ratio which allows even more valve clearance than the NA (9 to 1 ratio). I have broken at least 4 belts on my 80 NA and never harmed a valve.

It's not supposed to be, but my brother owns one, and he's not quite sure. My 924 NA has 11:1 compression. Crazy, huh?

Mike B is right. 924 is non interference and 931 is interference.
