Decided to rebuild and paint my torque tube silver with a clear. Cool, huh? I wish I had pictures of it before... it was a rusty mess. Not only is it now very cool looking, I prefer to keep everything under the car and in the engine bay light coloured so it makes spotting leaks a bit easier. Just a habit I've developed over the years. Now I'm just waiting for my flywheel to be resurfaced and I'll be on my way to finally installing the clutch! Can't wait!
Also bought the Koni inserts for the "hacksaw" job. I'll say, it's pretty easy to do. I'd recommend anyone to do it. I didn't use a hacksaw myself since that seemed a bit rough - I used a large pipe cutter - much better, in my opinion. The only thing left to do is give those a fresh coat of paint which I will do sometime this week.

My car is slowly on its way... I just haven't had any time to work on it due to school, working and traveling for the summer. I predict I'll have a bit more time to dedicate to her since my financial aid has been screwed for this upcoming semester.

this isn't fair.... now, i have to add this to my "to do" list.
about rebuilding the torque tube.... are we talking Constantine's bearings or what ?
do you like the Duplicolor Metalcast Aluminum paint with a bit of clearcoat baked over ?
still can't believe HOW HARD the metalcast (and clearcoat), 500 degree engine paints get once they get really hot !
did my pipes with the metalcast aluminum.... amazing paint !
i did my big blacks and rear calipers in yellow and clear coat, (hot out of the oven) and the valve cover in the black wrinkle paint (500 degree paints) and clear coat....... the secret is painting while the pieces are hot and then letting the operating temperatures continue to bake the stuff on even further...
if you introduce the heat after the pieces are painted the paint doesn't come out right. it tends to crinkle and come off.
when very warm, the pieces take more paint, as long as you not apply too much too fast...
now, it's like the hell with powdercoating.
nice work !

I didn't see the torque tube at first, thought it was a floor lamp, lol.
Lookin' good man, you're going to have to install mirrored floor tiles in the garage so that you can continue to enjoy your fine handiwork.

As someone who is excessively **** to the point of it being a sickness, it bothers me that you didn't take the shifter base and the brackets off prior to painting. ![Big Grin](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
How are the bearings in it?
