Default front suspension creaking noise, turning wheel.

I think the noise is only coming from the driver side front wheel.

I hear the noise when going over bumps but mostly when turning the steering wheel left or right, it's much louder at low speeds.

it sounds like a wooden floor creaking but much louder and its really annoying. also it gets way worse in teh summer when it's hot out.

there is no popping or grinding noise just a really bad creaking.

to me it sound like either the strut mount/ bearing? or sway bar bushings.

I already know my sway bar bushings look bad but they are expensive and I don't want to just replace them if they are not the cause of the creaking.

if it is my strut bearing / mount can you just replace the bearing and mount and reuse the strut?

also how do I go about finding which it is.

when putting my car on stands you can't hear the creakign as the wheels have no load on them.

thanks.....

You might want to check your struts. I have the same problem, and my struts are starting to go out. They're not bad, yet, but they are getting there. Good luck.

yeah I have original struts and shocks as far as I know at 270,000 kms i'm sure they need replacing but i'm not sure how much longer i'll have this car for as I might be moving away for school in a year so I don't want to waste too much money on it.

i'm removing my sway bar right now and then turning the wheel slightly wit it on ramps to see if it still growns and if ti does then its likely the strut mount.

it is coming from teh driver side.

if its the strut mount i'm just replacing the strut mount on that side and not teh strut.

I'm just learning about them, too. The mounts can actually be more expensive than the struts. Good luck with your work. <G>

mine is an 85.5 the 87 + mounts are epensive.

I just looked under the car and it looks like my steering rack is moving cus the rubber bushings are bad so could be that making noise or also a bad strut mount.
