Need help installing wiper motor
I can't seem to get the new wiper assembly back into position. I expect I need to replace the bottom half of the blower box but it isn't moving. I've removed the 8 bolts on the top. Am I missing ones lower down? Any help certainly appreciated.

Front or rear wiper? I'm assuming front because what your talking about doesn't sound like anything I've ever seen, then of course I only installed the rear one so... Good luck, Sorry I'm of no use, perhaps this Bump will get someones attention.

I don't know what year your car is but I just replaced the front wiper motor on my 89 S2.
I had to remove the entire mechanism along with the entire blower box. I don't remember exactly how many screws there were, quit a few though. The box was also sealed to the body with some black sticky stuff(technical term). I ended up prying one corner of the box up with a flathead screwdriver and then I was able to pull the rest of the box out. The black stuff is very strong, especially after sitting there for 13+ years. When I replaced everything I was able to re-use the black stuff. Be sure you have the wiper assembly lined up properly before you put everything else back together. I found that if you are off just one spline the wiper motion can be very wrong.

No quesion about it. The motor is NOT easy to remove (due to the fact that the entire blower assy. needs to be removed) Thanks to KWB_S2 for his detailed directions offline. I will take another run at the removal and perform a cleaning prior to replacement (fingers crossed). <img src="graemlins/cussing.gif" border="0" alt="[grrrrrrr]" />

I would love the same info, please. Mine quit in a torrent last night, tap the motor, they work briefly, then quit again. I think it's the motor. Thanks for the info,
thank goodness for rainx

Guys,
Here's the instructions:
Remove the heater blower assembly. Six bolts. Unplug the wiring, vacuum tube and be careful with the exterior temp sensor.
Put a piese of tape on the windshiel to mark where each arm lays. Remove the wiper arms. One nut on the top of each.
Unbolt the wiper linkage assembly. Three bolts. Unplug the motor and remove the whole lot.
Unbolt the motor from the assembly and un-snap the drive pin from the linkage.
Installation is the reverse. Don't forget the vacuum line inside the blower motor housing. Also, test run the motor before putting on the blower. May be something wrone and this will put the motor into the "rest" position before adding the arms.
Unfortunately, there is no way to do just the motor itself. OK, maybe a contortionist with custom-made tools has done it. (Sure to hear from him)

I did mine a few years back. It was a bit of a PITA, but not hard. You just have to make sure you remove the entire top AND bottom portions of the air box before you even bother trying to get the wiper assembly out. Once you remove the air box, and some of the vacuum lines, you kinda have to just leave it resting on the engine, off to the side enough to be out of the way.
I didn't bother removing the motor from the assembly (actually, I couldnt-it was on there way tight). I just got a whole new assembly w/motor off a parts car.
The key is BEFORE you install the wipers, cycle the motor on and off once. That will set the spindles to the correct resting place, AND let you know the thing works before you put everything back!
I have to do this again soon (the assembly I got had a stripped spindle, and has never worked right--wipers chadder and skip most of the time)! This thread reminded me of the fun I have in store!
edit: Oops...see post above!
