Post need a trans for an '88

Posting for a friend who has an '88 5 spd with a bad ring/pinion. He's looking for a good used transmission. Is anyone parting one out or can you recommend any sources. If you want to email him directly, it's Andy at wolfesneck@aol.com. I'll forward any information that you care to post on the board.

thanks in advance,
Jim

hd the same problem with my trans, 87' 944 n/a w/ 102k miles, previous owner was hard on trans...

ring and pinion shattered going about 30mph around town causing huge vibration in tranny and power delivery.

Im going through Ian @ www.944online.com for a rebuilt trans, hes got better prices than my dealer and seems reputable. Ill let you know how everything goes, im ordering the trans on monday 09/30/02.

$1350 w/ trade in, again a ****ing steal from what Ive been looking at. I just have to ship the trannies both ways from Florida to Chicago, ouch!

Other than that, Ian @ 944online.com has been very helpfull over the phone. Ill let you know how his product is when I get it in. Im hoping all goes well, I need my car back asap and shipping trannies 1000miles aint all that fun :-)
