Talking I want to rebuild my shifter

So I want to rebuild my shifter assembly to hopefully get rid of a lot of play and maybe even shorten it up a bit. So here's my question, what parts do I need, and what pitfalls do I need to avoid. Can this be done in a weekend? Thanks in advance, I know I'll get some good info.

If yours is like mine then the play comes from the worn down cross piece. Mine was worn by 3-4 mm. I installed a new SFR re-gained the lost precision. As for shortening it I'm sure you can cut the OEM one down but there is a retaining notch that keeps the **** and leather down. You'll have to figure out how to overcome that. Perhaps just don't cut too much.

Hey thanks, I also thought there was some sort of plastic piece in there that wears out too. As far as fabricating parts, thats easy, I've got access to all kinds of neat tools and I also enjoy building stuff. Is there anything that wears out in the rear end of the linkage?

I replaced the shift lever and ball cup. The SFR short shift kit seems to just reduce the movement by lowering the shift **** and requires you to use a new shift ****. I understand that the Authority kit reduces the shift movement on the shaft to the transaxle, keeping your shifter stock and at the same (ergonomic) height.

Hope that helps

I did replace it though.
