Guru stage 1 MAP conversion.
I've had my MAP kit installed for a couple of weeks and have had the opportunity to spend some time with Hand Controller tuning out lumps/stumbles etc. I have to say that I'm very pleased with the results and the degree to which this system is tuneable - As programmed by Guru, I had a stumble off idle which was easily rectified once Travis pointed me in the right direction. I also had a leaky throttle idle air valve and maladjusted TPS which complicated the issue somewhat, but once fixed I now have very strong takeaway from idle and quick spooling of turbo. More turbo and blow-off noise as well which adds to the fun. I haven't timed 0-60's or rolling 80 - 120's, but this car is now a strong, urgent performer that is a hell of a lot of fun to drive. The difference from stock is in tractability, which is of course the characteristic of a high torque motor, and it starts from surprisingly low down.I commute daily up and down a canyon that rises 2000'with 6 - 8% grades and I never get beaten to the top, in either 4th or 5th. It's the best part of the day!
I highly recommend Danno and Travis at Guru as a great combination of technical expertise and practicality that is obviously derived from a lot of time behind the wheel of a 951 in real world driving. For anyone considering their MAP Conversion, they will back you up and you'll get the most value from the kit if the Hand Controller is purchased so that you can tweak the fuel mapping for your individual situation.
BTW I have no connection to Guru Racing - I took a chance on them and have not been dissapointed.
Thanks.
