Moral of all my typing in this thread is do it right once, CHEAP makes you do it at least twice and the second time you kick yourself in the *** wondering why you didnt do it right the first time.

Is the OEM solution a slim line design though. It would be nice to make more room in the engine bay.

wiring question:

new fan takes a StrekStrekStrekStrekton of current to start up and then settles to 30-35amps while running high speed. other guys (SC'd mustangs, musclecars, etc) that use the fan (taurus 3.8L) suggest using a 75a relay to control the fan, or 2 40a relays in parallel.

the factory fan relay is a 40a...think i'd be able to just wire in a 75a relay to that socket, or use the socket and split its input and output between two relays and just mount them down there?

Check the wire size to that socket first; not like you need wire sized for a continuous 75A, but it needs to not melt... You may be better off wiring outside the fusebox.

i was thinking that too...running a fat fused power line off the battery to the relay, with a signal line from both the AC switch and the rad switch, and then to the fan motor. i could ground the motor to the chassis right there.

question though, the early rad switch only has 2 prongs, does it have a dual temperature setting (one temp sets low speed fans on, higher temp makes high speed) or is it just an on off thing?

It's still sitting in my garage There's only been 1 fan installed (driver side) for a year and a half after the other one seized out of nowhere. That single 6-blade stock fan is doing fine even in Houston city driving during the summer - temps never above the halfway mark and verified with my tuning software - but it's probably toward the end of its life.

In some searches I have not come across any definitive answers of CFM flow for the stock 6-blade fans. They work well, yes, but if an aftermarket fan or fans can flow more air it should be better.

An example of what is available is here, http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...d=260635519247

Thoughts?
That link is showing an end to the auction so here's an alternative source:
