At times when I'm pacing through the gears, I typically shift around 6,000-6,200rpm rather than running it all the way to red line. Today, I decided to take it to red line for once, as I wanted to see where exactly the rev limiter kicks in. The owners manual states that the maximum permissible RPM is 6500rpm. My tachometer goes into the red at 6400rpm. Through my test, I took the car up just a bit into the red, to what I'd assume was about 6600rpm or so before shifting. I didn't feel the rev limiter kicking in by that point, and felt as if the engine may continued on revving higher. When is the rev limiter supposed to kick in on S2's?
If there's an issue with my rev limiter, I'd like to know so that I can have it sorted out promptly. Thoughts???
