I think so, because of the offset difference. But idk, maybe the tie rods are just longer or shorter.

and I phoned my parts dealer aqnd he says 944 347 015 00 doesn't come up and it must be a "casting number"

my steering rack is also odd the tie rod ends are femal like on a power steering rack.

the guy I bought it off told me it came out of a 924S

I just want to make sure it fits my car before taking my old rack out.
Sounds like your rack has had the upgraded VW arms. Did the same myself. Ordered them from Travis IIRC. They work great, are cheaper than the stock arms, and allow you to use the power rack ends which are cheaper as well. You got a good one if this is the case. The only folks who would not wish for this upgrade would be concourse purists.

Do a search and see if you find my thread on this.

I have a the 015 rack. I once regreased one belonging to someone else, and it was also an 015. So they can't be that rare.... Both racks has 82 date stamps on them. Can anyone confirm the 011 number marked on a rack? I am beginning to doubt that they actually exist.... maybe a typo in the parts manuals?

Hmmm.. interesting. But the fact that all the 015 racks have female tie rod ends on them is weird. The 011s must have male rod ends?

It's a good thing this thread was made! I just checked the numbers on my rack on my '83 MY car...it has the 015 rack! I also have the sport suspension and elevated wheel options. This must be a part of those options. Thanks!

It's all good lol

Here are some pics if anyone was wondering or wanted to compare. (Don't mind the dirtiness, car has been sitting way too long and I'm in the middle of a swap)

Picture #3, your tie rod ends are the normal male manual ones.

Here's mine.

My bad, I thought you were talking about the actual end of the rod. It's strange that mine are different, but with the same box.
