Aww Shucks........

Let me start by saying that Scott is ONE patient man........
His description of the car's original condition was on the money, there were times when I was tempted to throw out some of the individual parts and replace them, economically it would have been logical to dump a few of them.....

Scott became increasingly 'involved' as the project continued into months of mostly weekend only work since my profession is really automatic/manual transmission repair. My father-in-law makes his bodyshop available for my use and that's one of the reasons this project was possible. Me and my son, Eon had just finished a $2500 salvaged (engine fire) 951 that became my personal car after months of restoration so I was prepared. All said and done, it was a truly enjoyable experience to spend weekends with him and Scott to rejuvenate this car into it's rightful and deserved appearance....

Through the process we also met another nearby enthusiast (ringo951), took in a few DE and Kart events during breaks. Did side projects like, SFR fueline upgrade, new steering wheel install and SFR short shift/**** conversion.
Scott splurged for each if not every rubber item in the parts catalog..... <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="eek.gif" />

I cursed Scott's color choice because basically, I don't care for metallics or multiple stage paints. This color especially is very difficult to get uniform results due to the high pearl content. If you stand alongside the car, shades can be detected that range from black cherry red to bright metallic red. Shifts in color bending around the nose or splitter can only be described by people who see it in person.

Props to Devilbiss and their OMX spraygun, my father in law for allowing us to use his space, my son for keeping me motivated and Scott for supplying the donor for metamorphosis and above all, his patience...

Appologies to Dan87951 who's head I had to send back to him to seek rebuild and porting elsewhere due to my lack of time to complete it for him...
Sorry Dan.

Well on to the next project....
I have a car ready for GT-racing parts in attempts to duplicate a 944GTR facsimile for PCA racing, and a 944S-968 conversion which will become my son's daily driver (he's 15) so I better get a move on..... <img border="0" alt="[cheers]" title="" src="graemlins/beerchug.gif" />

SKI

Sorry we missed you. We sort of had hopes you'd show up one weekend. There's an excellent spot 100 feet from the bodyshop, on the bayou bank where we could have held a barbeque or something.
Anyway, I'm deciding on what new injectors to get to finish my car once and for all and with Scott's car ready that run up the Scenic 7 in Arkansas is way overdue....
<img border="0" alt="[burnout]" title="" src="graemlins/burnout.gif" /> <img border="0" alt="[burnout]" title="" src="graemlins/burnout.gif" /> <img border="0" alt="[burnout]" title="" src="graemlins/burnout.gif" /> <img border="0" alt="[burnout]" title="" src="graemlins/burnout.gif" />
How's your car coming...?

Scott

That picture of your son standing next to the car looks all too familiar......
He doesn't have a handful of dirt in his hand does he....... <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="eek.gif" />

Terry, well I made it down to Covington but I had my wife and 4yo in tow. It would have been great to get over there that Sunday afternoon. Scott's car,,what a job Terry, congrats!

As far as my car, here is the link to LR album#1,
<a href="http://www.lindseyracing.com/cust1b.htm" target="_blank">http://www.lindseyracing.com/cust1b.htm</a>

I have started gathering wx stipping and a few items each month for the repaint this fall, which will take place in Ponchatula. I have one gal of Dupont Imron, black 99U/L041, with a quart of clear(if we choose to really gloss it) but I don't think we'll need it after 4-5 coats. The paint is excellent from 5 ft away but as you get on it,,the front, doors have some "specs" that just won't come out. So I have the time and so does my friend who will spray it,,,so we may be offering barbeque and suds for pointers from Scott or yourself..LOL!

Going to the dyno on May 2 to get an idea of the new hp with 65#/Guru software. The car has picked up some ponies after getting all the richness out of it; I was bad rich with the Turbo Cup car chips, blowing black smoke like a greyhound bus. It is amazing how shop lighting picks that up. Anyway, now boost starts with A/F of 11.5 or so at the onset of hard boost(3800), very linear climb to 12.1 at 5200, then 12.5-6 at 6000 - 6200. Danno..GREAT Chips!

Well if you two(or more) decide to get on the road to Hwy 7, I'll meet up if I'm home. If you make it really north, Heber Springs - Red Apple Inn, I'll spring for dinner or cook - and get you a deal on rooms at the Red Apple. Our membership allows for so many rooms a year at discounts for family or friends. Keep me updated.

That car is just beautiful. This is what my next 944 will look like (I hope!). The nose panel and front splitter is a great upgrade to the 944.
Congratulations!

Thanks guys. It was a lot of work and Terry's craftmanship is incredible. Probably the biggest thing I learned during this job is to take your time and when you think you've got something done go back and spend another hour on it. I learned a few Confuscious sayings too ;-). "Confuscious say that man who step on creeper get dirty a$$."
Wahoogie, I'll take some more pictures at a better location this weekend and send you some high res.

Ski, I'll get some closeups while I'm at it.

Terry, I picked up some intake runner gaskets yesterday. Crescent said I didn't need injector seals but that may be 'cause they are out of them. It's time to rip it back down and start polishing. Funny, you'd think I'd be ready to put some miles on it but I'm actually looking forward to tearing it apart again :-0.

That is absolutely stunning! Mad props! (Oops! I let that one slip...) Just the steps I'm planning to take to get the 924S in showroom condition. I just need some pointers for painting... any of you have good sources for info or just personal tips?

Again... Stunning!

Wow Scott. All I can say is, simply amazing!!!!! You and Terry, and Eon did an unbelievably incredible job. When I first saw it and met you guys it was just primered, so I did not get the chance to get the full impact, but I heard lots of stories. Scott you went to every extent to make this one of the finest examples of a 951 I have ever seen. Terry, your attention to detail and never ending quest for perfection have shown off in spades. Eon, you are in for one fine P-Car. It was great to get to know you guys during this project and I can't wait to make a run together, SKI included. Once again Kudos to all three of you. You are definitely enthusiasts.

Cool

Looking again, I have to ask, what brand splitter did you use?

Daniel The splitter is GT Racing with the open ends filled and shaped. Some people cut the part that overruns the bumper cover right in front of each tire and then fill. Personally I like the extra bit that goes past the BC as long as tire clearance isn't an issue.

ringo

Looks like that run is in the near future, maybe close enough to set a date, after school is out so my son can come and after SKI gets his car painted. The rest of you guys bring along 200# of ballast to compensate for me carrying my son to even things up a bit......

Well Done! I like how you left the door protection strips off...a much cleaner look.

That color is very similiar to the "ruby red" on my father's carrera.
