Post Brake Line Question?

I'm doing the "soft" lines on my 86 951 i.e.; replacing with SS from Skip. I've got 4 lines from Skip, 2 longs for front and 2 shorts.

My question is: What are the 2 short lines for? Did some 951's come with rear soft lines? Mine has hard lines connected to the Calipers.

By the way guys......if you were thinking of doing this it's a cinch so far. Take one out....put one back in. Install Speedbleeders and next I'll flush, fill and bleed with ATE Super Blue.

On my 89, you use the shorts in the rear and the longs in the front.

The SS lines (and the soft lines) connect to the hard lines that come out of the caliper..just follow the trail and you'll find the joint. Once you unscrew em, you just remove the clip and thar ya go...Make sure your resevoir has enough fluid before you start (just to be safe) because each line will be filled eventually (Gravity bleeding) even before you start bleeding.

The rears are much harder than the fronts just because of their location.

Use boxed end wrenches!

When bleeding, don't let the brake pedal get anywhere near the floor unless you wanna replace your MC (unless the MC is new).

Have fun

On the rear follow the hard lines down, you will find the rubber.
