Re-Surfacing a Flywheel

Re-Surfacing a Flywheel
I just pick up a used Flywheel for my 1990 944 S2. My question is can this be re-surfaced for use with my new Clutch? The clutch was replaced last month original flywheel is still in there. My mechanic said he would put a new flywheel in for me @ N/C on labor. I have to get the Flywheel.
Thanks

If it is within spec (ie: enough material to grind away and still be within tolerance), you won't have a problem.
Have your mechanic resurface and balance the flywheel, put it together, and don't worry about it.

Evan:
I've had 2 clutches done on my 83 and the existing flywheel in the car was resurfaced both times. It's a standard procedure when doing this job.
Perhaps your mechanic is giving you the option to put in a NEW flywheel, but given that "lightening" it also enhances clutch performance somewhat (e.g. many folks install lighter versions), having yours resurfaced can't be a bad thing.
Regardless of which one you use with your new clutch, if it's been used before, it should be resurfaced.
