Post Stuck in 2nd gear

Ok, this is the second time this has happened.

I park the car and put it in neutral and I come out the next morning, start the engine and the shifter will not move. I can let out the clutch and the tranny is in 2nd gear but the shifter is in neutral. What the hell is going on? Is there a ghost in my tranny?

The first time this happened I had to pull the tranny and take off the cover from the shift mechanism and use a screwdriver to slide the 1st-2nd shift rod back into neutral.

I have now taken the transmission completely apart and can't find anything wrong. All the springs and ***** for the shift rods are in place as they should be. How in the hell is this shift rod sliding into 2nd gear without me doping it?

Has anyone else ever experienced this before?

Dave,

I attached a screen shot from PET. When you say all the springs and ***** are there, did you check out the parts 14 and 15? (you have to pull out the shifter rails to verify these are in place and good)
