Randy at Whaletail (Waterloo) is somewhat better to deal with...but you have to be careful of BS...according to him a lot of his parts are `fully rebuilt`and `tested`when they may, in fact, be not rebuilt fully or properly tested. He`s focussed on 993 and newer cars now too, and his 944 inventory is really low. He does know his stuff though.

I`d PM a Pelicanite named plyhammer (Ohio area) for a good source for parts. Most Canadian parts guys want a big $ for their stuff.

Best of luck.

Yes Frank at NineApart is a douche.

Those are the two guys I referred to...Frank says one thing, then does another and has an attitude to boot. He'll quote you a price, then when you drive there, its higher or the part isn't as good as he claims it is. If there's a problem with the part, his attitude is "tough **** sucka, buy another one elsewhere"...I've heard that from more than enough 'listers. (If you drive to Loretto, then east towards Beeton, at the S curve you head south and he's down that way...big place, fancy shop-looks like a big horse stable.)

Randy is Ok, but a he's BS'er at times about the quality of his used parts....and they are pricey there too. Randy will exchange a defective part though.

No way either of them would sell you a 951 block for $200 as plyhammer or JoshB could.

Just speaking from experience with BOTH of these parts guys.

IMHO $200 would be a killer price to buy a block for. I haven't ever been able to sell one that cheaply. In any case buying a bare block is the start of probably another 3 to 4k in purchases as you will no doubt be doing a lot of while you are in there purchases. Also you would have to make sure you have the right tolerance pistons and check the truness of the block. I would recommend buying a complete running engine that was running not long ago and hasn't been sitting.

For pricing comparison look at completed auctions on ebay for 944 turbo motors.

Josh...good point. A full engine would be smarter/easier...unless you enjoy a fun project.

Thanks for the advice, keep it coming! Pretty much everything I have seen here confirms my other experiences. The car is at Hunter Motorsports now, and Brent is checking his sources as well.
