OT: Has anybody else noticed a big upsurge in Spam emails over the last few months?
Seems like it's really spiked upward and a lot of it is ugly. I've always been careful not to give out my "main" email address but it somehow got out... I'm getting 40-50 emails a day, half in Portugese! I don't speak Portuguese... there's also a bunch in Chinese (I think) but they look screwy 'cause I don't have that character set installed...
I'm wondering if it's me, or a more generalized phenomena..
I'd hate to have to retire an email address I've had for 7 years...

Nothing pisses me off more than spam mail, last week I was getting alot through AOL, alot being 2 or 3 a day and I email AOL with a lot of, not so nice words. Stopped since, but I don't know if it was because of that, I doubt it.

Yep, I get a _lot_ of the Asian crap spam... it just comes thru as alternate characters, totally illegible, but with domain names mostly ending in .tw (Taiwan, IIRC). Must be a few massive open relays there letting this crap thru. "Delete, delete, delete...."
I dunno about y'all, but I don't _ever_ do business with _anyone_ who spams or telemarkets me, no matter how tempting th eoffer may be. I keep hoping enough others will adopt this policy to put the bastids out of business.
Of course, there's also the jerks in Africa & the Caribbean who have a 21 million dollar 'business proposal' if I'll just send them my name, addy, phone number, and checking account info...uh, huh, yeah, sure... Wait just a minute while I dig all that out.
Jim, anybody get the tag number of the turnip truck I just fell off of?

I get a lot on my old hotmail account and none on my new isp account. The volume hasn't changed recently, you must have gotten onto someone's list and been passed on a few times.
If you try to get off some lists, it just shows them that your address is live, and makes it more valuable for resale. The best solution is to change addresses.

I've gotten 50 spam mails in the last 10 hours. It's to the point where I can't bear the load anymore, and I'm accidentally deleting important emails because of the amount of junk I get.
I've probably got it worse than most people, but even a few emails a day is too much. They're basically filling your mailbox for free...

I definetely get a lot of spam...anywhere from 10-20 emails a day. And the best part...95% of it is in a language I can't read!!!
Oh well..delete delete delete delete...I get 1 or 2 emails with the Klez virus a day usually.

I rarely get unsolicited email on my msn, I had a hotmail account that an ex girlfriend nasty spammed me on and that was like 30 a day.
I listen to this Kim Komando radio show on the weekends and she was talking about a surge in Asian spamming, and how you can block email from whatever country you want.
You can search at Komando.com to find out how to do that.

I'm a sys admin and we have a user here at work who ges roughly 2-300 porno spam emails daily. It's become such a problem we had to recreate HER information store. Thats right, it's a female's account, and she swears she isn't going to any of the "Necrophiliac Beastiality" pages...uh huh...I always thought she was pretty freaky
I guess those brute force spam machines are getting more and more popular.
