Default DC Auto

I'm very disapponted and wary of these guys. I was quoted a $200 price difference for the same part. Are these guys scam artist?

I don't think they're scam artists but I've tried to use them twice and had terrible experiences both times. I'm sure others have had better experiences but I'd never shop with them again.

DC auto has a full online price list of almost every used part on a 944. It is so complete and comprehensive that I sometimes use that as a guide when selling obscure used parts that I don't know the market value of.

Did you check their verbal quotes against the online catalog? $200 is a big swing, what were trying to pick up?

I had the same experience with them. They gave me a $150 difference on a part. The part isn't listed on their site. However, I do have the both quotes in a email. I'm going to hold them to the lesser amount.

Be aware that their inventory is almost all used stuff, even though they don't clearly state it as such. Borders on unethical in my book, and has been discussed here and elsewhere in the recent past.

if German is bad (georgia) and DC is bad (district of the real mob) -- then who is good ?

20th street (arizona) never done me wrong, neither has L.A Porsche (even though people don't like them either) nor did German ever do me wrong.

forgot to mention Oklahoma Foreign....

I've actually had good experiences with DC. Once I got a part that didn't fit my car, but it was my fault - I ordered the wrong intake manifold, not realizing that there was a difference between early and late. I've gotten a number of parts from them though and have generally been happy as they can usually get some more obscure parts.

It sounds like the best thing to do is keep calling and take the best price.
The do deliver but, as said, everything is used.

As anyone ever had a good experience at
http://autoatlanta.com/

I'm asking because I need some small parts that are not available on ebay, like:

-the little plastic cap (early version) that covers the bolt on my rear wiper
-back left side bumper (mine is falling a part, theres a gap between the rubber and actual bumper)

Yeah, I know I'm fussy, but with the amount of cash that I've spent on the car, I just want it to be perrrrrrrrfect : )

Gotta say all my experiences have been good. I do buy used parts there but I know I am getting used parts and have all come as predicted. I had a problem with a starter I got there once and they shipped me a new one no questions asked. Probably 10 transactions with them and all have been good. Have you talked with them in person?

i've had mostly good experiences with them. but our forum guys usually get better pricing for the common stuff.

and yes they are a salvage shop. the only things they carry new are gaskets seals and the like. if it ain't marked "new", it's used.

Aside from having an ad with a pretty girl in Panorama magazine for years and a comprehensive online parts catalog, DC Automotive is essentially a dismantler.

I've ordered from dC Automotive three times and have been disappointed three times. Even giving them the specific part number is no guarantee that you'll get the right part. I won't be using them again.
