This question gets asked on every car board in the universe. Sometimes sharing information helps. : )

I use Elf (Total) 5w 50, which I think is a good synthetic.

It's not that it's not a good question, it's that it has been discussed ad naseum. There is no 'right' answer as lubrication is akin to religion. I think you just have to roll up your sleeves, read through lots of threads and then draw your own conclusion.

JohnKoaWood. I think I can scoop some of this oil for you off the Gulf coast. I hear there is plenty of free B.P. oil there.

Brad Penn Oil here too - great stuff, designed for high performance engines with the appropriate levels of ZDDP. I'm in TX so it's 20W-50 year round for me.

Only if I knew my quote would take this thread in an ugly direction.

It wasn't your quote that did it.. it has been happening to me EVERYWHERE... seems like someone is trying to tell me something!

Back to topic, I have been using GTX 20-50 year round with no issues, might be a little more selective once the 951 engine is rebuilt to protect the investment..

Been using Mobil 1 5W-50 for going on 10 years in my 951 now.

The AMAG Porsche shop in Switzerland that serviced the car right when I bought it recommended this oil and weight. The car is in stock form. 83K miles.

After nearly a decade of owning and driving it, I thought it would be wise to clean the intercooler out of any blowby oil... It was bone dry.

So far, so good!

Mobil has changed their oil and some feel not for the better...

If you go to www.bobistheoilguy.com and search Mobil 1, I am sure you will find enough information to make an informed decision on Mobil 1.

I just picked up a gallon of Rotella T6, a full synthetic, for my Fall/Winter fill. They just started carrying it at the local AutoZone.
