I think thats how they did it in the latest Excellence - reused old motor, replaced housing and mirror with 968 style.

This is a manual kit to fit the 944. Comes complete with everything you require. These parts come in a Porsche box. Yes it is possible to take the motor assembly from the 944 and put it in these mirrors. This kit includes the glass.

The backs of the mirror motors are different. You can modify the 944 motors to work, but they are not a direct drop in. There are small washers built into the 968 mirror motor's back plate that the 944 mirrors do not have. As a result, the 944 motor will "rock" without spacers and can not be firmly attached. Not a biggie, but something to consider.

Well, kinda. If I recall, there is also an issue the screws for the motor. The screws are too short (or is it too long), I can't recall. At any rate, I took the mounting plate off the 968 motor that I had and mounted it on a 944 motor. Then used the screws for the 968 mirrors. When you do this, the motor fits fine.

As I'm thinking about it, stands to reason that the 968 plate with built in washers would make the 944 screws too short to attach. And if you mount the motor without the 968 plate, then the screws are too long and the motor rocks. Make sense?

Sunset rocks. When shopping for a list of 944 parts recently, my local dealer quoted me a price of $995. The SAME parts at Sunset were $360! And then I applied my $100 PCA coupon to the purchase price, dropping it down to $260.

Does anyone have photos of 968 mirrors and door handles on an NA 944? I've seen photos of them on the S2 and 951, but few on an NA. (Just curious how they look with the NA front bumper.)

What is that "pedestal" ???

if it is that piece which goes between mirror housing & door there will be fitment problem.

I bought the complete 968 kit from Zuffenhausen (bought handles too). The total cost was about 450 euros (968 handles & mirrors)
