I have two questions.

1. During hard acceleration my car sort of jerks. Whats causing this?

2. Has anyone had problems with their courtesy light continually blowing fuses for no apparent reason?

When was the last time your car had a full tune-up? If not recently, start with this (plugs, distributor cap, rotor, air filter, fuel filter.) Check coil and spark plug wires for condition and service if necessary. Check all electrical connectors and follow Sid's advice (CHECK THE GROUNDS.)

If the problem persists, things to start checking into include DME/fuel pump relay, air flow sensor (AFS), fuel pump/pressure regulator, fuel injectors. We can help you there. But start with a good basic tune-up first.

I have already tuned the car up. Recently replaced plugs, wire, cap, rotor, cleaned filter(K&N),and coil works fine. The car idles fine. It doesn't jerk until you accelerate. Its not a bad jerk, but you can slightly feel it under acceleration.

Not a t-belt I just replaced them and it was doing the same thing before i replaced em. I haven't check the fuel pressure but I plan on replacing the fuel pressure regulator and fuel filter soon.

By all means replace the fuel filter. Might want to throw in a new DME relay just in case (cheap, provides power to the pump.) Then check the fuel pressure.

There was a recent post on checking/retracking the AFM. That might be your next move if the fuel pressure checks out okay. Running a bottle of Techron through the injectors might not hurt either.

Same thing happened to me since the day I got the car. Replaced DME, better for a short time. New spark plugs and wires. Better for a short time. Replaced Coil, went away entirely. Replaced Voltage regulator and got a little oompf inthe process.

The coil may spark, but not be in good enough shape. It can get to the point of no go. Ask Chris.

Bur definitely grounds, coil, voltage regulator for now. Ice has a nice 14.5 for less than the one you'll get at the store.

Ahh, voltage regulator...Where is that thing located? This has to be it. Reason I say this is because when I crank the car up the amp guage reads around 11- 12 amps until I rev the engine, then it jumps to 13-14 amps.

When does the jerk occur? before or after shift?

Ok you take off...1st gear dont feel much, Shift 2nd car pulling start to feel the jerk.., shift to 3rd you start feeling the most here. Then you shift on to 4th and 5 and it doesn't really do it.

Voltage regulator is mounted to the alternator.

Remove airbox (#@(#&@)(#&@)^ did they (@*#&@ put these @#(*&@)#*(& bolts where you can't get more than a 1/4 @(#*&@( turn on them!)Alternator is right below, Regulator is on bottom side. Easy enough. Bought an hour to hour and a half.

But I bet you still have a coil problem.

hey Sid whats the best way to test the coil? I'm a little slow in the electrical dep. I can get to the alternator pretty easily.

Chris said he took it to a shop. But I don't know. I just replaced the **** in the freezing cold.

Temporarily run another cable from the battery to the firewall stud, then from there to a good ground. Best I could find was the cam cover.
