Yes, that's a cool build.

Started mocking up the SC today, this is going to be fairly straight forward.

I'm beat, busy weekend on the car, now it's time to relax, have a few beers and maybe take a dip in the pool.

Things accomplished

1. Swapped the rusty, questionable TT for the good one out of Franky.
2. Finished cleaning the plastic gas tank and reinstalled.
3. Swapped torsion bar carrier with the one from Franky that has T-bars deleted and delrin bushings.
4. Removed the 924S banana arms and removed the Racer's Edge spherical bearings. These were installed on late arms that accept ABS sensors.
5. Pulled the rear hubs, spindles, and bearings. Will install new bearings when they come in this week.
6. Installed rears shocks.
7. Got 3/4 of the way through with prepping the old cage. Cut and ground Franky's sheet metal that was still attached to the cage footers. I didn't start this till around 10am this morning and damn was it hot out. My arms are killing me from 2.5 hours of working the right-angle grinder. Also cut the cage in two, will make one more set of cuts to make three sections. These will be placed into the new chassis and spliced together, each cut will have a tube inserted and welded to strengthen the welded section.

As long as FEDEX delivers on time, my intercooler and piping will be here tomorrow. The plan is to mock everything up and make all necessary cuts and additions to the front end before starting the paint prep and painting.

I also picked up a 944 hood that I will use to make a mold to fix my fiberglass hood that was damaged in the wreck.

All-in-all good progress was made this weekend. I still have a lot to do, but it's coming along.

you sure that method of splice-n-weld is going to be approved by the safety inspectors? might wanna get a clarification. I'm pretty sure it wouldn't pass around here or in the BMWCCA.

take some photos of your mold-making process.....i'm interested to see how you do it.

Not a problem with NASA, only the main hoop has to be one continuous piece. The plan is to do an internal sleeve. In addition, 3/8" holes will be drilled and plug welded to the sleeve. The sleeving will not compromise the cage.

Started mocking up the FMIC install (see below). This is the easiest setup but I have concerns that the air cleaner will hinder air flow to the radiator. Pretty easy to extend the hose to the passenger side headlight area (although that area will have intercooler piping as well).

Still need to clean up the cuts from talking out the front sheet metal. I plan on welding in a bar in it's place.

Got the cage "dry-fitted" back in the car. Will insert sleeves and weld it back up tomorrow. Also picked up my paint today, Franky II will be sporting GT3 RS Orange, inside and out

Tim, not even close to a frankencar. you are in the family. family swaps (within the 4 944 family, no less)

just your latest engineering decisions...

Making good progress. The replacement piece you were searching for is from Texas Performance Concepts. Not sure if it will give you the clearance for the air filter or not.

I welded up my own front cross member piece. Plenty of room for the IC with the new setup. I'm working in the garage today if you want to come and hang out, Joe, Larry and Michael will likely be by this afternoon. Sent the wifey on a beer run

It's amazing for such a small niche aftermarket how polarising supercharger kits seem to be. Very active 'groups' on various 968 forums who all support their man.

Looks nice Tim and should be a real little weapon of a racecar.

A good day in the garage yesterday, but man am I sore today. The cage went in fairly easy with three people to move, lever, pound, and weld.

I cut 3" sleeves that were placed in every cut; a slight opening was left between cage ends and the three parts made into one. The cage was then welded to the chassis using the existing foot pads. Fit perfectly. Thanks to Joe and Josh for the help!!!!

I've got one or two welds to finish up today and then sanding begins in preparation for paint.

Sunday update - got the front bar welded in.
